Patreon bot's are evolving~
Added 2017-03-30 11:33:40 +0000 UTCThis is really annoying... new patron? Oh, no wait it's a bot again.
Last year they were easy to spot as it was always pledging you and only you, had a name and surname and no avatar and popped usually in 24h after posting something.
Nowadays they still have no avatar, a name and surname and pop in 24h after posting something (it's $ pledge is always set to your last post, so the high $ bot bait tier do not work) but they also are "pledging" to 4 other creators plus you.
Honestly, the reason why I am salty because of this is:
a) the incompetent coding that allow's these bots to make accounts. The site is not poor, it makes a lot of cash chipping off every patron that pledges to every creator. From my own point it eat's 5,50$ of my monthly donations (that's 5 1$ tier patrons). You would think they would work on patching the scam mechanics before all of these "invite new creators to patreon" stuff to make this more user-friendly. Guess not, got to make the extra $$$ from more people, who cares about people dealing with fake pledges every week?
b) every time I go to my notifications I have a sticky panel with +/- pledges of the month, and of course it lists ALL the bots that I've deleted myself through this time. Giving the fact that I did post new stuff here at least 2 times a week currently the list grow's pretty long. If I delete someone myself, it SHOULD NOT be listed there through the whole damn month.

This option is still in beta phase and it's not available to everyone as far as I know. The current biggest problem with the old system is that anyone can pledge to your highest art, workfiles, tutorials, whatever unlocking tier, browse and download all the paywalled content and remove the pledge on the same day. Wait a few months for the creator to forget your user ID and repeat the step above, I had a pest like that here last week, pledged for like an hour or two and gone. Went to his page and saw a lot of paywalled posts in favorites, but of course no "current" pledges~

2017-03-30 22:13:40 +0000 UTCI guess this was to be expected. You'd think the developers of Patreon, or whoever, would at least put in one of those captcha things, especially for making new pledges.

2017-03-30 19:18:02 +0000 UTCI know some of the people I pledge to charge me as soon as I put my pledge in, even if there was only 2 days left of the month I was still charged for that month. Is that option not active for every creator?

2017-03-30 12:04:26 +0000 UTCThey did not, getting tired of the same shtick every time I upload something. Really wonder when the "unlock content after successful pledge" system will get out of testing, it's been quite a while since the last time I've hear'd about it.
