The captain and his crew~

Color version.

This picture started back in 08-22, when during my summer vacation I felt under the wheels of a speeding nostalgia truck-kun, as by random I stumbled upon a YT channel with NES longplays and I was looking for classics from my childhood, Duck Tales, Contra, Tailspin, Mega Man to name a few... and Bucky O'Hare.

No wonder this game burned itself in my mind for decades. The variety in level design was probably mindblowing for young me, add nice pixel art and banger of a soundtrack for whipped cream and cherry on top.

That gave me enought of inspirational juice to something more of a proper fanart then just another lewd #34 and since for some time I planned to draw Jenny in my own vision of her suit (couldn't stop being tilted by the metal panties, how the *uck those do not chafe when walking), I might as well do the whole crew now~

I tried to keep the core design to the outfits in touch with the original, but as expected, upon it I unleashed my own vision combined with touch of detail.

Jenny - her suit (other then dropping the accursed metal panties) I imagine would be way more ornamental and decorative. She's a mystic space witch from a secret order afterall~

Blinky - had fun drawing some more mecha-related stuff again, although I didn't go too crazy on the detail. Not really into the tube-limbs, but at the same time it's a link to the original look.

Bucky - slight alteration to his outfit to make it look more like an uniform. A bit of wear'n'tear on he cape and shoulderpads.

Deadeye - gunner, so an outfit resembling a body armor, flak vest salvaged from his days of piracy. Wishing there would be more badass art of him as he was my favorite character back in the days.

William - ok, so let's adress the eleph... I mean human in the room. Nothing against young Willy, he was the link for the kids in the original show, and he worked well as far as I remember (other then fandom people who were shipping him with Jenny, I mean he was like 10-12 and Jenny is at least considered a young adult in her 20's, so what the *uck, go back to IB you groomer degenerates). But since I can play the artistic liberty card here, I'm doing it now and turning Willy into William, a millenial/doomer (growing up in woke SanFran takes a great tool on the body and mind) scientist in his late 20's-early 30's to STILL link him with the generation that remembers the original show and game. Hell, I can write him a completly new lore if the need arises~

Characters © whoever holds the copyright to Bucky O'Hare, Continuity Comics? Whoever it is, he deserves anthrax in his mail for letting the series lie dead.

Art by yours truly~

lol sorry, just... it's a very complicated issue that comes up and it's not as simple as "why didn't the creators do more with their creation". It's sad really the amount of stuff kept in limbo from the 80's and 90's due to muddle rights to the property.

Also I wrote Continuity Comics as the copyright holder as that was mentioned on the Boss Fight Studios figurines I got, thought that's recent. But I also seen Hasbro mentioned on Yawgs posts too, so I do see the mess you've mentioned xD

This is probably one of the lenghtiest comments I've gotten in a while. I honestly, can't tell, I think the whole relation between Jenny and Willy originally was meant to be more family-oriented, because in the comic he got permanently stuck in the aniverse, so Jenny assumed the role of a mother figure for the kid. It was different in the animated show since he could travel in-and-out, so that's why her care over him was interpreted by many as a "ship". At least that's what I read online, it's been way too many years for me to remember either that well. I think I do understand the issue with the copyrights to the IP, it's like a multipiece puzzle and the pieces are spreaded between many entities. It's similar in form to the pre-communism estates ownership issue we have in Poland, many wealthy had lost their brickhouses, manors or land, to the regime since the late 40's. In 90's when democracy was reinstalled and pre-war private properties were supposed to be given back to the original owners, a lot of those owners were already dead and the family has grown large. Now each generation holds a % of the fortune, so a lot of those estates and land lies empty to decay as people fight eachoter over ownership in endless court cases or can't afford to buy out the other members.

I never understood why they where like "lets make a weirdly semi sexual/crush like interaction between her and the human kid even though it's implied she likes Bucky". Lot of 80's-90's cartoons seemed to do that for some reason. As for rights, it's muddled because 90's. There's the original comic book writer's, then you have Hasbro. For the original writers, they are in their 70's and likely not having any luck shopping it around even if they were trying since media production refuses to do anything unless they think it's gold, and that's if they even have rights to it as it was published under Continuity Comics which is defunct and the rights likely are split up in weird ways. Hasbro produced toys and licensed the TV show as a "commercial" to sell toys, and Hasbro being the "nice folks" they are hired the Pinkertons to go steal property from a youtuber because they got ahold of magic cards before street date. If you don't know the Pinkertons are a "private security company" best known for Union busting, lighting protesters on fire, and murdering people while having a good PR dept to spin stuff. I doubt Hasbro, if they own the rights to animation, will ever do anything with it as like most mass media/IP owners they would rather sit on it and do nothing then let someone else make money off it. To give you an idea how "fucked" rights can be when companies sold them off in the 90's. Fasa sold off the rights Battletech in multiple ways. Like cartoons/moveis can only be produced if some random media company is contacted, while TOPS (the baseball card company) owns the rights to the table top game, and Ironwind metals owns the exclusive rights to produce single battletech miniatures, and Microsoft owns the rights to make video games. People gave no fucks and chopped up the rights to IP all the time in that era.
