For some reason, the mental image of my beautiful coworker in the fetal position tongue punching the air by a terrified dog shot back into my brain last night.
(and yeah it... kinda worked lol)

2022-02-19 01:41:21 +0000 UTCI've done like really basic stuff with my cats (sitting for food and coming when i call) but they DO respond really well to the clicker. it's definitely makes training even the most difficult dogs seem like a piece of cake though 😂

2022-02-19 00:53:06 +0000 UTCSome of these helped me get the shed cats to trust me!! I didn’t try the licking thing tho since cats don’t do that. Cats are motivated by treats and I’ve heard they really respond to “clicker” training with a clicker! I’d search some YouTube videos about it. I just let my cats do whatever they want tho so I have no experience 😂

When working with dogs, you want them to trust you and not think you’re there to hurt them! It helpful with dogs that are very fearful, and sometimes dogs that are showing aggression due to fear. But if a dog is actually trying to bite you, I wouldn’t recommend doing this!

2022-02-19 00:10:18 +0000 UTCit's to make aggressive, anxious, or fearful dogs feel more comfortable around you! generally if they're showing these signs, they see you as a threat, so appearing submissive tells them "hey, I'm cool! I'm not going to hurt you!" (to varying success lol)

2022-02-18 23:25:18 +0000 UTCRight, I haven’t seen anyone else mention it, but dogs DO lick their lips to demonstrate submissiveness so I always tried it out afterwards to see if it’d help a dog feel less threatened by me. Just…. Not when other people were around to watch 😂😂

2022-02-18 23:24:26 +0000 UTCI CANNOT stop laughing. I work at a doggy daycare so I can attest to the getting down low and facing your side to them. But I usually put out a hand while not looking at them, so they can check me out. But the tongue thing has me *dead*.
