Episode 3 is now live!

I want to thank all of you for generously supporting Fall of Civilizations. It really means the world to me that you've enjoyed the first episodes and think it worth supporting.

I'm excited to announce that Episode 3 has just gone live on SoundCloud, and I'm letting my Patreon supporters know before everyone else - it won't go live on Spotify, iTunes etc until tomorrow, so for now you're the only ones who know about it!

In this episode, we look at that great romantic mystery: the fall of the Classic Maya Civilization. Find out how this great civilization grew up among environmental conditions that no other civilization has ever contended with, learn about the fatal flaws that lay beneath its surface, and what happened after its final, cataclysmic collapse.

This is just one small way to say how much I appreciate all your support an encouragement over the last few weeks.

This is the work of Betty Meggers, mentioned in episode 3. Your can find some more discussion of her work here: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=DRt5RnlBTq0C&lpg=PA31&ots=8tkklEBCbE&pg=PA31#v=onepage&q=Betty%20Meggers%20Mayan&f=false

Somewhere in this podcast you mentioned a theory of societal complexity tied to energy consumption. I'm struggling to find where it was mentioned so I can do further reading. Any help would be much appreciated.

One of my favourites is The Lost Chronicles of the Maya Kings by David Drew!

After listening I'm wondering if there is a particular book that you'd recommend for someone who is quite new to Mayan history?

Cheers Joshua, really hope you enjoy!

This is such an interesting topic that I really haven't been able to fully explore as I'd like. So looking forward to your take on it.
