Thanks for another ejoyable episode. Perhaps the phrase "Africa's greatest civilisation" is used too much (for both the Songhai and Moroccon); many would accord that accolade to Egypt or even Carthage. I do find your implied criticism of the West impinges at times ("predatory Europeans"), especially skating over the fact that it was the West that abolished slavery first and even enforced it in places (the Royal Navy for over 150 years, at some cost of lives and money) - African countries were the last to make it illegal, and even now have the most slaves still. It did not "end in the 19th Century".
