A Few Exciting Items

Hey Rad and Stinkin' Rad Fans! We are excited about a few things!

1) We are planning another LIVESTREAM! It will be Wednesday (the 13th) in the evening (US Mountain time). Clint will be answering viewer questions, and we want to answer Patron questions first! So, ask your questions in the comments of this post. We will favor the questions with the most likes, as well as those that we think other people will want to know about.

2) We will be opening fan mail during the livestream, so send that ASAP so we can get it in time to open.

One More For Q&A: I've always considered reptiles to be very smart. My general basis for this assertion is the situational awareness of reptiles and their talent for problem solving, whether that be related to obtaining food, causing mischief, etc. which I've witnessed in my own pets. How do you think we can/should define, test, and quantify the intelligence of various reptiles? What's your take on the intelligence of reptiles and how to you think that affects the way we should care for them as pets?

For Q&A: Rack systems are a popular way of cost-effectively maintaining a large collection of snakes. It seems to me, however, very difficult to offer adequate enrichment for reptiles kept in a rack system. Do you think this is true? How do you recommend integrating animal-enrichment into a rack system? And what do you consider "adequate" enrichment for pet reptiles?

what's it been like raising kids with a bunch of reptiles? Speaking as the daughter of a snake enthusiast (the first pet I remember having was a Brazilian rainbow boa named Noah the Boa)

I just stayed up all night to finish something for you guys that I just dropped off at FedEx! So please check your mail Wednesday it should be there by Tuesday *fingers crossed*. Questions wise, do you plan to look into the possible benefits of enrichment for reptiles using things like bioactive enclosures, puzzle feeding, and variations in environment? Lastly, how do you not let the sometimes hostile attitude of people within the hobby get you down?

How did you come to be an educator?

I am currently keeping my 2.1 Red-sided garter snake juveniles in a plastic tub enclosure. Once they get big enough, I will move them to a bioactive 40-gallon breeder vivarium. I am deciding which type of basking light to use. Some swear by UVB with garters, others breeders do not use it and seem to get good results. Many say that UVB is definitely beneficial for garters, but not strictly necessary. What’s your take on UVB specifically with reference to garter snakes?

Would you ever do a video explaining how the blue eyed leucistic complex works?

Why do you think African dwarf frogs aren't very popular in the reptile/amphibian trade? I've got a group of 5 and they're so much fun. But I never see them at reptile shows and don't see many pet-tubers talking about them. They even have a coupe cool morphs, which you would think would help make them popular.

I’m planning to get a crested gecko but I’m a bit worried about temperature as the room temperature can vary from 15-24C during winter. What do you suggest for temperature regulation?

What are the pros and cons of allowing a larger reptile, such as a tegu, free roam in a room in your house?

Betty Morgan

For the Q&A-- What are your top five most underrated reptiles? (In the pet trade or otherwise)
