Early Access Video - Coronavirus COVID 19

You've done a great public service by making this video. Thanks for caring!

Thanks for this video! I've been following all the COVID-19 news, and I appreciate how you explain what is happening and why it matters to your audience!

This is a great segueway to the other coronavirus: ball python nidovirus. It is most certainly still a problem and growing rapidly (again) because of all of the interest in cheap morphs from amateur breeders pumping out infected snakes for cheap on MorphMarket. :\ PCR tests are cheap. People need to test.

Asura

Thanks for this! Very helpful.

You made a lot of good points -- thank you for sharing your balanced and informed insights. Here's my 2c (as a non-virologist/non-economist): Any vaccine, as I understand, is 18-24+ months out, so a near-total economic shutdown is not feasible for that length of time unless we do some serious experimentation with universal basic income and universal healthcare (which isn't out of the question -- the government can print money to fund, and the economy can handle -- even benefit from -- some inflation). Seems like our best option near-term is pouring $$$ and research efforts into developing decent antivirals in sufficient quantity that we can return to "normal" operation (with, as you suggest, only the most vulnerable on lockdown) and have the virus sweep through the general population without (hopefully) overwhelming hospitals. Then we just hope that SARS-CoV-2 isn't like the seasonal flu -- mutating while it migrates around the globe and ready to reinfect individuals with immunity to the previous strains. I REALLY hope China puts a stop to their shockingly inhumane wet markets, otherwise we will just keep having these zoonotic events. I imagine this is also an opportune time to aggressively argue for NIH budgetary increases...

We are sorry to hear that. Our Outreach program is experiencing similar issues. It is hard to hold an event when everyone is practicing social distancing...

Fantastic explanation Clint, hope everyone out there is doing well, it’s certainly scary times, unfortunately we’ve lost all the wildlife display bookings we had from now till at least July ☹️

Wicked Wildlife

Outstanding explanation!!! I can’t wait for this video to post and go viral. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
