Here’s some pop science you could weigh on. A lot of people I know (including myself) have taken 23andMe tests and discovered we have a certain percentage of DNA from Neanderthals. I have <2%, which according to 23andMe is 86% more than other customers. How does that work out? How were two different species able to blend so well, why are some humans more Neanderthal than others, and how does this affect my genetic makeup personally?

This is very interesting! Good job for tackling such a broad and abstract subject :D The branch analogy is very useful to describe what a clade is. A branch on a tree can be cut anywhere and still be a called a branch. A big, long branch that splits off in many places is just a much of a branch as a shorter one that only splits once or twice. And a branch that never splits is still a branch, but you could decide to say it's also a stick (specie). It's difficult to get rid of older systems for many reasons. I think it's very true that labels such as «infra-orders» are often useless and misleading because they are trying to count the amounts of knots or splits on a specific branch, starting from the tip. Those number of splits are not very representative nor do they give much information, because depending of where and when that part of the branch happened, there could have been many species diversifying or very little due to environnemental pressures. Awesome video!

As usual.. Just listened to those 17 minutes like it was nothing.. always expecting for more ! Now - I had a question : I was under the impression that the 'torus' shape of those animals with bilateral symetry where developped as a sort of tube. Like you took the ball.. flattened it into a sheet (or 2), folded it into a tube.. or 2.. and there you have it : the mouth/anus complex (digestive, circulatory, breathing, skin, reproduction) and the head/tail complex (nervous system essentially).. But then it was always pure speculation on my part !
