Episode 33: WCAR Drive Time Radio

Is the Hyperloop for real or are easily duped elected officials the only people it will take for a ride? Do e-bikes have the power to transform the suburbs? Why should politicians and the press say “crash” instead of “accident”? What’s the best way to convince people to live a car-free life? On this year-end episode, Sarah, Doug and Aaron answer these questions and more from listeners fighting their own local versions of the War on Cars. Plus, what were the best transportation-related developments of 2019?

Comments

Your podcasts are amazing and I particularly liked your interview with Kara Swisher and your question/answer podcast the week after (even if there was a helicopter involved, ha!). I have a comment and a question. 1. I so agree with your comments about ebikes especially for suburban commuters with longer distances to travel. 2. What would you recommend for suburban commuters visiting NYC: 1. using mass transit ( a real novelty for us suburban commuters especially from Pennsylvania) 2. risking our lives by bringing a fixed gear on the bus into NYC with us and riding the bike paths instead of using mass transit 3. risking our lives even more by bringing a folding bicycle with us on the bus and riding the bike paths 4. Taking the bus into NYC and using citibike. Riding seems very appealing but I hear about all this car induced carnage from motorists harming bicyclists on TWOC. Thank you again for the amazing podcasts.
