Before joining New York Magazine, Choire was the editor for the Styles desk of The New York Times, which covered social and generational change and power, something that has a lot in common with The War on Cars. Choire's work in the New York City media world includes time at Vox Media as well as notable stints as the editor of the New York Observer and Gawker.
