Hello War on Cars supporters!
We're back with our LXXIth episode, our annual look at the ads that ran during the Super Bowl. It's one of our favorites to do and this time we invited a special guest: Amy Westervelt. You may know Amy as the prodigious podcaster and journalist behind Rigged, Drilled, Hot Take and more. She joined us to offer her unique perspective on the history public relations and corporate propaganda. We were thrilled to have her on the show and hope you'll check out her work. (Links below.)
In other news, we have a new shirt in the store which we think you'll like. We're also hoping you'll send us emails and voice memos with your questions and comments for an upcoming bonus episode. We'd love to hear War on Cars success stories from around the globe, so if you have something you'd like to share that you think can inspire other people working to change their streets, please send it our way! Emails and voice memos can be sent to thewaroncars@gmail.com
Thanks as always for your support!

EPISODE 81: Vapor Bowl Tailgate Party with Amy Westervelt
What do robot dogs, Meadow Soprano, WeatherTech bumper protectors, and Dr. Evil have in common? They were all featured in ads during Super Bowl LVI, that annual celebration of American consumerism. In what’s become a War on Cars tradition, we analyze the car commercials that aired during the big game and try to figure out what they say about the future of streets near you. This time, we’re joined by journalist Amy Westervelt, whose podcasts cover everything from climate change to the history of propaganda and public relations. Amy helps us connect the dots between early PR efforts by oil companies, the tobacco industry and the techniques used by car companies today.
