BONUS: Into the Fold with Brompton's Will Butler-Adams

On our last episode, we mentioned the brief cameo that a Brompton folding bicycle had on season 2 of Ted Lasso and why that was a very deliberate choice meant to convey something special about the character who rides it, Dr. Sharon Fieldstone.
For this bonus episode, I talked with Brompton's Managing Director, Will Butler-Adams, about the chance meeting that brought him to the iconic British bike company, where the bike industry fits into advocacy, his thoughts on building cities for people and why his company's distinctive and quirky machine is the "Swiss Army knife of bikes."
Will and I recorded this interview outside after a brief bike ride through Brooklyn... on our Bromptons, of course. I guess it shows the versatility of these bikes that two people of vastly different heights can ride them!

This is a light and fun conversation and we hope you enjoy it. We'll be back with new episodes with all three of us very soon.
Thanks as always for your support,
Doug

P.S. We recently mentioned our special offer for 20% off tickets to Micromobility Europe in Amsterdam, June 8-9, 2023. That offer is ongoing but you can now also get 20% off tickets to the U.S. version of this conference, Micromobility America in San Francisco, October 19-20, 2023. Both are bound to offer great opportunities for industry professionals, planners, journalists and other folks with an interest in the future of mobility. One of us might be at Micromobility America, so we hope to meet some of you there.

This is kind of off-topic to the conversation on the Brompton show, for which I apologize, but I just saw this and thought you guys should do at least a show on it, if not more: Get Rid of Rats in NYC by Putting Parking Spaces to Better Use! https://www.curbed.com/2023/05/trash-containerization-parking-dsny-report.html

I'm longtime (> 40 yrs, > 50 yrs if you count elementary school) bicycle commuter, and I've always loved riding a bike. I'm sooo enjoying watching the e-bike revolution (though I don't want one for myself yet). Not long after I listened to this episode, at lunch with my team, one of my coworkers (MUCH younger than me), who recently bought an e-bike, was enthusing about it. And of the many happy things he said, this one stuck out to me: "Everywhere I go, people are asking me about it. It's like it's 2007 and I have an iPhone!" Bring on the bike commuters, motorized and muscle-powered alike! (OK OK I know e-biking takes _some_ muscle power, but I'm looking for something that's not "non motorized")
