It's the WRESTLE ME! newsletter for August 2024!
Added 2024-10-20 20:41:27 +0000 UTCHere in glorious PDF format, it's the new Wrestle Me! newsletter, covering the month of July 2024! We're watching Hulk Hogan get Donald Trump re-elected, the UK Pitbulls surprisingly break Hollywood, Ric Flair drinks too much in one venue, John Cena pays a $70,000 bar bill, Val Venis gets spectacularly trolled by nice people, the secret history behind Repo Man, all the hot news about 1991's Suburban Commando, and lots more!
Because we want to make this EXCLUSIVE to Pat Patreonsons, the old newsletter PDFs will be deleted when the new one goes up, so that anyone joining the month after won't get to riffle back through them and make a MOCKERY of the Patreon system. A MOCKERY! I say that, I forget a lot of the time.
Hope you're fantastic and are looking forward to Halloween, when you're legally allowed to get off with a witch and no one's allowed to banish you. ENJOY IT!
Love love Marc & Pete x

I was in attendance for the Punk-Graves match linked herein. For some reason, I attended despite a low-grade fever and was a bit delirious. I distinctly remember standing up and loudly ranting about the poor booking decision at the finish, which did not amuse my companions. Incidentally, the main event of the show was Dusty Rhodes vs. Jerry Lawler (and Mick Foley was the referee). The highlight was a man in the third row threatening to kill Lawler until Foley had to talk him down.

2024-10-24 13:25:04 +0000 UTCHaving just seen the Stop AIDS poster it turns out my comment was in fact tangentially related to the newsletter.

2024-10-24 07:41:58 +0000 UTCUnrelated to the newsletter but Mark have you watched Queen of Villains on Netflix? It's the career story of Dump Matsumoto and the start of Bull Nakano. The match they have at the end is on YouTube and you can more or less do a scene-by-scene comparison, it's really well done. Would be interested to know how much of it holds up to what we understand to be true about the wrestlers and that era.

2024-10-23 16:01:57 +0000 UTCAn issue of the always awesome newsletter that mentions Botch?! As a fan of hardcore and metal, this was a special treat, and I'll be following up on Daniel Makabe's career too! That superb match between Harley Race and Kevin Von Erich made my day. I love watching old footage from World Class, so this was brilliant.

2024-10-22 16:57:26 +0000 UTCDouble down on it. Next video make sure there's more minor discrepancies. It's gaining views and comments!

2024-10-22 14:11:26 +0000 UTCThanks for the heads-up Damo, I will now make sure I leave that horror show well alone x

2024-10-22 14:00:37 +0000 UTCSome lovely unhinged comments in your latest Cena HBK YouTube video. Most rattled by one specific phrasing in relation to HBK and Mania and one guy seething over Cena to the point he wishes he swapped places with deceased wrestlers. Thank goodness for the safe space that is Patreon ð

2024-10-21 03:38:06 +0000 UTCThis month's newsletter was a treat, as always. I now have the feeling that Marc is the biggest "Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway" fan ever, discovered Ric Flair wanders the streets of Tampa as a drunk cryptid (the accounts from locals are hilarious) have fallen in love with Daniel Makabe (he's just like me for real), a wrestler who is so good he doesn't need a Wikipedia page (though that may change soon) and now want the Aja Kong/Bull Nakano AIDS poster as much as I want a collection of vintage PRIDE FC posters

2024-10-20 22:19:51 +0000 UTCFirst time I've ever downloaded and read the entire newsletter on release day. The tarot cards are lovely. I've been back and forth on ebay the last few days looking at Gold and Merlin WWF cards from the early 90s and stopping myself each time from hitting the buy button.

2024-10-20 22:18:45 +0000 UTCI watched it at the time but I am willing to defer to you on this Skippa, as if pressed, I can remember nothing about it other than I didn't think it was funny. But I once thought that about the Mighty Boosh, so I'm willing to accept that the Old Me might be wrong x

2024-10-20 21:45:13 +0000 UTCA few days in, but I've got to take issue with your opinion of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. It is, at the very least, quite funny.

2024-10-20 21:26:08 +0000 UTCHas anyone been as addicted to Hollywoods fleeting interest in them as hard as Jess? I swear the dude talks more about the predator than he does the fact his union talks got shut down.
