Swordtember Day 10 - Dark Horse

Sunlight Skillet

Wondrous Item (Cook's Utensil), legendary (requires attunement)

Forged from salvaged scrap metal collected from the battlefield where the final clash of the 1st Chaos Insurgency took place, the Sunlight Skillet was originally intended to be a simple cooking tool made by a modest blacksmith. Unbeknownst to him, fragments of a shattered holy weapon once wielded by the avatar of The Dawn Lord were mixed into the metal, imbuing the skillet with divine power.

The Sunlight Skillet has since become the stuff of myth and legend, whispered about among blacksmiths and the public alike. Even the clergy of The Sun Dome have dispatched search parties in an attempt to locate it, though their efforts have been in vain. Despite this, they’ve gathered enough evidence to confirm the skillet’s existence. Rumor has it that the skillet can bless any food it cooks with divine energy, and if its wielder meets the right conditions, they can temporarily summon the echo of the holy weapon from within its forged metal.

—------------

The Sunlight Skillet can be used as an improvised weapon. It deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage plus an additional 2d6 radiant damage. You gain a bonus to attack and damage rolls equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down). This bonus also applies to any ability checks related to cooking when using the skillet.

Flambé. When you are targeted by an attack that you can see, you can use your reaction to attempt to parry it with the skillet. Add your proficiency bonus to your AC against the triggering attack. If the attack misses and the attacker is within 10 feet of you, they take 3d6 fire damage as divine flames burst from the skillet. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Radiant Blade. You can manifest a radiant sword from the Sunlight Skillet as a bonus action by saying its name, Vashaya. The sword deals 2d6 fire damage and an additional 2d6 radiant damage. The fire damage from the radiant blade ignores fire resistance and treats immunity to fire as resistance. Additionally, once per turn, when you hit a creature with this weapon, you can mark the creature with radiant light to give advantage on the next attack against it. The blade last for 1 minute, once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

Divine Feast. You can use the Sunlight Skillet to cook a meal, taking 1 hour to prepare food that is accidentally imbued with divine power. You can cook for a number of creatures up to your proficiency bonus. Make a Wisdom (Cook’s Utensils) check (DC 15). If successful, roll 1d8 to determine a benefit. For every 5 points by which the check exceeds the DC (e.g., DC 20 or DC 25), roll an additional d8 (up to 3d8). Each creature gains a number of unique benefits equal to the number of d8 rolled (reroll duplicate results). These benefits last for 8 hours.

d8 - Benefit

1 - Guiding Hand: Gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks.

2 - Blessed Strikes: Your weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4 radiant damage.

3 - Lightfoot's Grace: Gain +10 feet to movement speed.

4 - Divine Focus: Gain advantage on Wisdom saving throws.

5 - Blessing of Vitality: Gain temporary hit points equal to your total roll in cooking the food.

6 - Divine Endurance: Gain advantage on Constitution saving throws.

7 - Holy Protection: Gain +1 bonus to AC.

8 - Radiant Resistance: Gain resistance to radiant and fire damage.

What if their patron was just a devil version of Gordon Ramsey?

Delton

Does it count as a "light" weapon?

Connor Finnan

That'd be hilarious, lol. XD

Angelous

you can definitely make a whole character arc with it. let the character unlock each feature as they progress until they finally figure out the sword's true name XD

Sinlaire

for some reason I imagine Hexblade Warlock that has to roll to determine what kind of home utensil they will be summoned every time they conjure their weapon XD (and an angry patron that feel annoyed that stuff from their home keep disappearing XD)

Sinlaire

It'll be fun if there're a personal quest to slowly unlock the item ability and maybe discover the sword's true name XD

Sinlaire

I love this weapon. I'm totally making a character based around getting this.
