Content Releases

Hi everyone,

V 0.3.5 is well under way!

Before I get any further into it, however, I wanted to talk about the way the updates are being written. Right now I'm aiming for seven days of in-game time released per update. In my mind, each update should feel like a new chapter.

A comment on V 0.3.0 pointed out that there are days where it feels like there's nothing to do except take a pill (you go to work, come home, pill choice, go to sleep). I definitely see where they're coming from, but I wanted to see what others thought. I don't think it's possible for me to do a monthly release of an entire week of content, with each day feeling like its own fun adventure. Right now some days are shorter so that other days can be longer, like Friday night events, weekend activities, etc.

That being said, I could shift some things so that each day is more or less the same length, and each day has something to do, but that means a date night or a big activity will have to be shorter as well. To put it another way, if I write 1k words a day and each release is ~30k words, then Mon-Thurs might be 10k, Fri might be 10k, and Sat-Sun might be another 10k. Instead, I could make it so that every day is more or less 4.5k words.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has a preference either way. If the responses are particularly mixed I'll start a poll. I definitely don't want people to feel like some days are rushed just so other days can be long, but making each day a uniform length will come with its own negatives as well.

I'm already too far into this update to tinker around with it much, but I could make all future updates follow a different format depending on how people feel.

edit: The feedback has been really helpful and it's surprisingly consistent. I'll keep watching this post, in case contrarian views come out, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the majority like it the way it is and understand the why. Thank you to everyone who leaves feedback, it's greatly appreciated!
