2025-05-13 17:21:30 +0000 UTCI actually like how avatar does big topics so it can be conveyed to younger audiences. Like the hama episode can be a good, albeit lacking the real life depth, representation of cultural genocide as well as eugenics to wipe out a certain trait in another people's which here it waterbending. Hama is just representing the retribution one may have against all they see as a representation of their oppression or slaughter even if they themselves are innocent of ever having to do that at all. And as a kid you are more than likely interested in the fighting or abilities, but not really the messaging representation that is underneath. Definitely one of many things I love about avatar.
