I like their approach. Compared to past proposals it makes you think "You know, this might actually work!" Contrast that with the late Aughts proposals where "If NASA's budget miraculously became like it was in the heat of the space race..."

Tim, I signed up a few weeks ago to support you. I enjoy some of your β€œcorny”(Iowa!) humor, but keep up the good work! From β€˜63 to β€˜71 I built S-1C subassemblies for Boeing in New Orleans, and also test fired all S-II stages at the MS test site. I visited Boca Chica in December to get a selfie of myself & S/N 8’s nose cone to show my friends and family that I’m still hoping to see our return to the moon! At 1 point in that career I had my head stuck into the Apollo capsule up on top of LP 39B! I’m now almost 88 years old and been through Apollo 1; Challenger & Columbia, and I’m hoping to still see us land on the moon! Somehow I think Space X will be the first to actually do it!

Nice one, I was 6 yrs old when my Dad stayed up all night watching Apollo 13 ... I have vague memories of St Peters Square full of people praying for it's safe return :-) Being able to watch SpaceX build is just great :-) Thank you all

Became a patron just now, after having been asking my wife for approval for motnhs :D So excited to be part of the family!

I just became a patron yesterday. I really enjoy your enthusiasm for the subject matter. You get me as excited as I was at 7 years old in 1978 when we pulled in to the Kennedy Space Center and I saw that huge Saturn V laying on its side. Things I never thought to see are starting to happen in the space exploration scene and I can't wait to find out what is next!

Hi! Tim. I wish I could afford to join at a higher level because I literally devour all your content. Hooraaay for your passion! Just wondering if you are also watching the Gateway Foundation/Orbital Assembly company. (Tim Alatorre is a family friend) Anyway, they have a big announcement on Jan 29 for members and membership can be free. (free is what I can afford)

Hi Tim New Member looking for your podcast πŸ˜€. Love πŸ’˜ Everyday Astronaut Denise from 🌎

Hi! I just Joined, but can't seem to navigate where to go? Can someone assist?

Great Video! Always love to see these!

Awesome job, Tim! I thoroughly enjoyed the show!

I thought the order was great. I was kinda iffy on whether Hayabusa 2 or Chang'e 5 should switch places, but they were both incredibly impressive and definitely the #2 and #3 spots. According to TMRO, the Venus discovery lead to NASA focusing on creating a flagship Venus mission within 72 hours of the results being publicized, which is pretty incredible in and of itself.

L21. (010421) I have not retired my interest in space travel for humans and robots. I just watched your annual awards program... glad to see how inclusive you are about the earth’s advances in space science... but are the Russians doing anything besides losing the contract to put US astronauts on the ISS?

Knocked it out of the park Tim.

Maybe China 3 REX 2

Eric Sowder

Think REX mission was more amazing then China moon mission but agreed should be up there near the top !

Eric Sowder

I have a quick way to set up a moonbase using the same components as a space station...

LOL Watch China just wants to build a moon base for their military, They are sampling the foundations

ahh, I think the phrase still is super applicable and resonating...my vote is keep it!

For people who have died, suggest a small text box noting their contribution.

Oh haha, didn't see the first reponses until I clicked "more" -- I guess a lot of us came to say that.

Chuck Yeager, not Yaeger at 3:07 :D

Great vid! 44:17 - should probably be "however they saw fit" or "however they see fit". Probably not worth re-shooting though; it doesn't really detract much if at all

yeah, thats right

Thanks for the video. Your coverage is always quality and detailed.

Great job. Won't say I agree with the order, but I think by in large, it nails down the big topics in one of the most eventful years for space exploration in decades.

Intro "good evening". Podcasts are timeless. Great video. Held my attention for entire hour.

came here to say the same.

@33:40: "Ryugu", not "Rayugu"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/162173_Ryugu#Discovery_and_name

@ 21:24: "Mitsubishi Heavy Industries", not "Mitsubishi Heavy Launches"

Yeh you say taking what Perseverance had up a notch

Great so far. But.. at ~20:15 you mention Perseverance when I think you meant Curiosity.

Great video Tim!

Brayden McConnell

ooch. About 3:30 in. I know it's heartfelt, but 'thoughts and prayers' is a clichΓ© that should probably be retired, not least because of how insincere it can sound.

Nice! Found one issue: it's almost impossible to hear what you say during the Astra launch attempt

Looks great! I didn't hear any weird things. Interesting you put Chang'e 5 on #2, I agree that it (and the Chinese space program) deserves quite some credit.

Wow, that intro audio is good btw, what mic is used? :)

Vincent Groenewold

Space X must not need much to land on the moon or Mars, since they have made the vehicle real now. So ,there must be room for a second contract it seems. I don't know. sorry eh, cheers, Peace Tim eh!!!!!!!

Audio volume on the Astra honourable mention launch clip is too high to hear you over

Omari Antony

Typo in Yeager name @3:06
