MARS [Studio B] Progress update!

Hey everyone! We’ve been working non-stop to get the studio FULLY up and running now!!! This is a major future proofing upgrade that will allow for major expansions without headaches. We’re doing things right so we can provide the highest quality and lowest latency show, period. Once we’re at a point where we can actually do a stream, we’ll do a test stream with you all! Hopefully by tomorrow night 🀞 Thank you all for understanding how much time this has eaten up to make this happen and for your support which has literally made it possible!! You’re the best!

That studio looks sick!

Well said

But to find an educational TV station that focuses exclusively on educating the little guy about everything related to the future of space travel ... that will no longer be possible. Like this channel, there will be others, but Tim has taking that leep, no one will ever be able to surpass that anymore..he was the first. People will always relate to the initial brand: "Tim Dodd - The Everyday Astrounaut".

It's not to late yet...! :-)

This really makes me miss my days working in a TV station! Looks great! 😁

And majority of YT channels I follow are shot on a smartphone or a cheap prosumer DSC with an afterthought of video, in ambient light...

My thoughts exactly!

The cable guys guide to the galaxy! 🌌 πŸ€“πŸ‘ πŸ˜‰ 😎πŸ₯³πŸͺπŸŒœπŸŒπŸ›ΈπŸš€πŸŒŽπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ

Wow... looking very pofessional.... good luck

Network cables still don't have protective hoods :-( Otherwise it looks great!

Looks damned impressive. I'm looking forward to your future productions.

Where's the flux capacitor?

This is no longer an amateur operation. Way to go Tim. Great job doing things professionally. Remember, the work you do is actually very important. Working on the effort of documenting humanity's first steps toward Mars.

It’s looks like someone said for small kid go and build your Studio. Awesome!!!

wow !

Checkout GripLock Ties. They are great, much better than normal zip ties.

Just be sure to release the inertial damper before you try to fly that thing.

Major issue I noticed was the lack of cable labels. I spent most of 35 years as a maintenance technician at a TV station. You have got to have wire labels, and a functional of how it's wired. Imagine having to remove the switcher for some reason. It's going to be tricky making sure the cables are connected correctly.

Looks like lots of learnings all the way to get this done. Keep up the good work

The techie in me is drooling right now. Looking good!

Thank you for complement

That is going to be some setup! It will be hot in there so some sort of major conditioner will be needed. Don't be too quick to zip tie cables until AFTER things have been tested out as my own experience found that one out the hard way.

You may have to change your moniker to "Everyday Electrician".

I bet that room smells of socks, fresh carpet, and electrical cabling!

Nice setup ! Love watching your production grow. Can't wait till it's done :)

Awesome!

Looking great Tim πŸ‘πŸ» missing your live coverage of space events now but your new setup will be unrivalled. That main rack gonna be toasty! Blackmagic kit runs outrageously warm...so warm it’s failed on me just before shows 😟 Also agree with Phil about labelling 🏷 but that’s my live events ocd kicking in.

Looka like home to me! Constellation, Behringer, Patching, Atem Panel! Love you setting !!

As a guy who used to work live sound, that looks amazing ( if a little unlabeled)

Looking great and love the work!! Keep up being amazing and a huge congrats to the team for setting all this up! When it’s finished it’ll be a work horse! Can’t wait!!

Ha! My demands are being met - as long as the tacos and pokΓ© keep flowing, I'm good!

It's clear now, why SN11 was delayed... SpaceX was waiting for you to get the finishing touches completed on Mars [Studio B] prior to SN11 flight. Looks professional and awesome! Thank you for keeping the community connected to all the history being made down there.

Looks good!! Looking forward to it!!

Jeremie Hill

sweet Jebus that's a lot of coax

If Tim negotiated a place in the Village that would be insane.

is your viking network engineer earning his keep? πŸ™ƒ

Studio B is looking sick!, I’m really looking forward to watch the next stream with that new equipment. But to be honest, I thought the white background was just a temporary thing, I don’t know why you guys picked white for the BKG, it reflects a lot of light and make the red lights looks kind of pink. Picture that logo on a dark BKG with those beautiful red glowing lights! hehe 🀟🏻😎🀟🏻

ooo! wires n stuff!

Wow! That looks like a lot of work, but a really nice setup. Can't wait to see the results!

Looking great! Can't wait to see this equipment in action!

That cable management... I can't wait to see it all wrapped up! Thank you for being our eyes, ears, and voice in the community.

I see no reason why you can't film any new content...! Keep up the great work. Please tell me you have a time lapse going. When it's all set up, could you do a behind the scenes video production 101? I have no idea what any of that is for.

Did you find a place inside the village? I drove through the village for the first time three weeks ago so I have a little context finally

Just spent 2 weeks at the Saphire and now I feel like an expert on the area :)

Harlingen or Brownsville?

That is way cool!!

Some serious business there!

Looks great though!

Are you going to be able to sneak in a trench-cam under SN11/BN2??

It’s been so much fun watching your production capabilities grow. I can’t wait to see the results of this latest round of upgrades.

quietssstorm

Impressive! Thanks!

Steve Ehrmann

Great job, Tim πŸ‘

Can’t wait! Just in time for SN11.

Wow that's looking awesome Guys 😜

No YOU'RE the best, Tim! πŸ™Œ

Joe Rader

This is an incredible setup!! The next livestreams are gonna be amazing !!!

Great stuff, well done guys - looking forward to the test stream πŸ‘πŸ‘

I have one of those light-up moon globes. Love it.

Mark Devney

Nice.. and a good-old Cisco Catalyst switch.. πŸ˜‰ (maybe it's new, the color scheme is just the old..)

Looking amazing!! Excited for the first stream!!

No #wenhop tomorrow, TFR and road closures are canceled

Constellation switcher? Nice.

Aaron Huslage

Road closures cancelled for tomorrow. So we don’t have to fret!

Everyday Astronaut

Take your time, we all want to make sure it’s done right so there are no headaches or facepalms in the future

OozeRocket

What if #wenhop is tomorrow? Will you be ready?

Looks awesome!! Can’t wait to see the first stream! Hope you are able to have everything ready for SN11
