They -cannot- take that risk, because they will not only lose Eren's Titan power in that scenario, But they will forget the coup d'etat, and go back to living in fear of titans.

EVERYBODY shown in that flashback who inherited the power went into it saying "I'M gonna be the one who doesn't get consumed by it, this time it'll be different" and they ALL failed despite going in with the intent to fight against the brainwashing with all their willpower. So Historia would just be going into it with the exact same intentions and presumably getting the exact same result - only this time it'd be worse, since it'd undo all of their progress throughout the events of the series until now, resetting the entire thing in people's memories. It shouldn't even be considered a gamble with its 0% success rate so far on controlling the power, from what we've seen.

2023-03-30 18:58:49 +0000 UTCWhen you speculated about Historia being mentally strong enough to not be brainwashed by the power, im pretty sure that flashback just then was showing how that would be impossible. Rod and his family wanted to save humanity so badly, and each thought they would be the ones to overcome the First King's will, but each were controlled all the same. It would be no different with Historia.
