For you! As of the precise moment of writing this post, I do not yet know if this is truly the final chapter of arc 20 - but I suspect it is! (Or okay maybe there's gonna be a chapter of falling action.) Heather and her found family, and a very old mage, and only one of them is going to survive this, but how? Time to find out! Heather couldn't truly be sure that Edward wouldn't survive the abyss - the sharks of the void, the leviathans, the cold deep, the process of change - but the risk of him emerging was simply too great. She would have had to find some way of achieving basically what Badger managed anyway. It's always satisfying to see that karmic specificity, yeah! Really glad you liked that!

2023-06-11 01:11:40 +0000 UTCWhile I genuinely don't think Edward had much chance of remaining sane, human, or possibly even viable / uneaten (and as much as I hate his bullshit about what a special boy he is when Heather is literally just the same thing he'd be but at a variable pace and probably much more stable and "human"), I am very glad we didn't see him get to try. Get shrecked on, ya old bastard! Concepts of owning others and a specific karmic comeupance from the consequences of your actions coming back to bite you, hoooo!
