Necroepilogos, impietas - 9.12

Even thinking tanks and walking flesh-blossoms need R&R eventually. But the zone is still red-hot and radioactive. Time to retreat.

An epub version of the chapter is also attached, as always!

And with this, arc 9 is done! Well, it should be. That's the plan, as of the time of writing this post. The outline for 9.12 is open in Scrivener behind this window, and I'm about to begin drafting, so we shall see! I'll add a note here if it's going to go to 9.13, but that seems unlikely.

(It's not! This is the last chapter of arc 9! Woo!)

Gosh, I do hope you've enjoyed this arc, dear readers. This has been a high-octane, high-intensity blast through a lot of stuff. In a way arc 9 is sort of the culmination/climax of the first meta-arc or main story plot, or ... book??? Maybe? Necroepilogos opened with Elpida and the graveworm and the 'meteor'; now the meteor is up and walking and Elpida has her comrades close and the worm is on the move. The first motion is complete! Many more await, out among the ashes.

Thank you all so much for being here and reading Necroepilogos. I can't express how much it means to me that you're all enjoying my story. And here we are, on the cusp of the end of the first meta-arc, and we've still barely scratched the surface of this rotten corpse. Onward we go!

So! Next chapter is very likely going to be an interlude. Arc 10 might be quite short. We might be taking a little diversion for a few chapters, but I can't be 100% sure until I see how the interlude works out. It'll be a surprise!

In the meantime, for those of you who do not frequent the discord, I once again wish to share this 100% accurate depiction of Iriko from last week's chapter, by ray!

Elpida and her squad desperately need some serious downtime, yes. They need to heal up and talk about their plans and decide what to do next, and what to do about certain new additions. And Serin is back, yes! Spidery mushroom goodness. Maybe she'll stay, this time? And I'm really delighted that you've enjoyed this arc, thank you! It's been a wild one.

She might be able to assist, yes! Assuming Elpida can get enough nanomachines, and if the process isn't too difficult. We've seen Kagami grow new parts, in her arm, and even that seemed ... risky, painful, and resource-intensive. Still, if anybody is willing to put in the work, Elpida will.

I wonder if Howl can help her with doing some changes. Grow an uplink in the back of her head so she can better connect with little tank bro.
