Epub version of the chapter is attached below, as well!
Arc 14 arrives with a gurgle of blood and guts! Surprise, it's not an interlude; I did in fact plan an interlude, but the characters weren't having any of it, so here we are! Arc 14 is likely to be ... maybe quite short? Perhaps only 4-5 chapters. Plans have, once again, been totally subordinated to the needs of this ragged herd of zombie girls, and I have given up any attempt to direct them. 4-5 chapters is what I have outlined right now, but, well, we'll see what happens. This arc is also likely to be single-POV. We'll get back to others once it's over!
And, as always, dear readers, I hope you enjoy reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it!
I also have a very hefty haul of fanart from over on the discord to share with you all. I'm actually going to bullet point this one, because there's just so many.
First up we have an illustration of the Covenanter from last week's chapter! 'Victims try to close the door even when Telokopolis closes for none', by Melsa Hvarei.
Then, The Crowned Girl! I love this style, it fits with how mysterious she is, so far. This one is by spring.
Next up, some rough design sketches of Pheiri, by Nuclear Umbrella. I always enjoy seeing different interpretations of Pheiri, because I've left so much room for readers' imaginations to fill in the details.
And then! Six pieces (wow!) by a very talented 3D artist who goes by samsungsmartfrog: 1) a graveworm looming over the dead city, 2) a Telokopolan pilot chamber (watch out, this one is NSFW), 3) a tomb, most imposing and monolithic, 4) the same tomb, now kitted out for 'Graveworm Gacha', (this is a joke based on another piece of fanart!) 5) one of the Death's Heads controlling a suite of drones, and 6) 'Resurrection' - the very start of the story, the resurrection chamber itself.
I just want to especially point out that last one, 'Resurrection'; it's incredible. It almost feels like I should use it as some kind of official art, it captures a wonderful interpretation of the resurrection chamber! All the fanart is such a delight to see, thank you all so much!
And now, back to the zombies! Onward we go!
Comments
If you reach an ancient brick building full of things which look like human girls but are in fact hastily assembled avatars for alien beings beyond this sphere of reality, you need to go back to the previous junction and take a left, that'll get you back on track. In all seriousness though, I do seem to have a thing for dream sequences! Though, does it count as a dream if it's a simulation? This is more like, I dunno, the matrix??? A little bit???
