Gigantamax Mega Kaiju Cad (Hi-Res + Thoughts)

A painting for @cad_wing of Twitter ! Sometimes, you need to go just a little bit further beyond a normal Dyna- or Gigantamax. Thank goodness for adjectives.

It's the Mewtwo again! Cad is a sweetheart, and I finally got to paint him at a size that matches the size of his heart. He helped me out immensely about a year back, and this was the finale of some time I owed him. We decided to go all out, and it was absolutely worthwhile~

It took me a bit to get here, since I had to send in my tablet for repair, and some issues in the background stalled me out for a bit. But the result was absolutely more than worth it. I'm so happy to have been given the honor of making this for Cad.

2020 continues to be a hell of a ride, but thank you all for sticking with me and offering support. I hope you're all still staying safe out there, and staying healthy. I hope that my silly doodles have helped you stay positive at least a little. Your support has meant the world to me amongst everything, and I cannot thank you all enough. <3 Stay safe, stay healthy, and I'll catch you again soon.

WHOOF. The biggest time investment in a painting, the biggest canvas I've ever painted on at 9000 pixels wide, and the biggest psychic cat! 

I won't lie to you, though--while I did say it was an honor to get to do this piece, it also did make me question some things again. Especially because of social media. Imagine spending 40 hours, a full work week in a 9 to 5 job, on a piece, and your brain sabotages your good vibes near the end, wondering if it really IS worth the 40 hours you put into it. And then, opening Twitter, you're bombarded with all your art role models uploading art they did for Magic: The Gathering or otherwise, and it blows you out of the water, and they're uploading multiple things... Sometimes -daily- for a theme challenge or personal work!

It made me crumple for a bit. I am still a bit weak to that sort of mental strain -- obviously I'm in a spot now where I can look at this piece of Cad and be proud, but there's a sort of mask that hides the frustration I have at myself for being slow, or inefficient, or not understanding certain concepts like light or saturation as well as I would like. I have to charge through it, though, because dwelling on it only makes me spiral. It might slow me down, but I can't let it make me spiral.

So that's part of why this took a bit, and why August was so quiet. I apologize profusely for that. The tablet was a big part, being unable to do more than sketches and rough painting until I got my main tablet back (with thanks to Myriaderoc for giving me his old one as a backup for those three weeks!). But the mental turmoil definitely didn't help. Eventually I'll hit a stride where it doesn't make me stumble, but until then, I can only ask for patience and thank you for being so understanding.

I hope everyone will like this. I think it might be some of my better work this year, personally. And Cad himself seems to love it. I just hope it makes up for a bit of the wait!
