Roadside Attraction (Hi Res)

A character piece for plexel_ of Twitter! When the Barbarian asks if you want to see a magic trick, maybe don't offer your sword when he asks for it... 

Big lizard! This one was also fun. You guys spoil me with too many good  ideas. Starting out the character pieces with a comfort zone image, but  it came out really well, I think! I'm still stumbling a little with  foliage in backgrounds, and saturation is always difficult for me, but I  had a great time just rendering this out. Was very relaxing. c:

Whoof. Elden Ring, huh?

This one took me a little bit longer than originally anticipated because gosh, Elden Ring is crazy good. But on the art side of things, I think we're doing okay! Things are progressing, and the work is moving along. This was a little bit more rendered out and "smooth" than the previous piece for RexPecs -- I do still like me some roughness in my brushwork, but I'm also hitting a weird second, parallel vein of "Maybe I can use rough -layer effects- to enhance some of my smooth rendering." 

So I wound up flipping back to that with this piece, starting with some really textured and flaky brushes to block everything in and then a second pass to smooth everything out and make it "more presentable". I think this is most apparent in the loincloth, the sky, and in bits of the foliage. While I'm not happy with the leaves entirely, those three spots stand out to me as where what I did worked the best. It fell apart a little bit in the abdomen and face, but nothing some harder, opaque work can't fix...!

It felt like it took a bit of extra work to do, but at the same time, came together quicker than other previous paintings of a similar scope. So... I think there's some value there. I just need to work more on my saturation and laying color on top of my grayscale values better. I think that's my main sticking point, and for those with the time or the good eyes to sit and really go into this piece, there's a few spots that I think you can see where I visually struggle with keeping it in control. Hopefully they don't stand out too much, though.

But yeah! Another big lizard man. Flipping back to a portrait for the next commission for Regal. Got it sketched out and approved, just need to get started on it... once i uh just see what's over the next hill in elden ring-- ooo, another grace--
