Crystal Tower (Hi Res)

A painting for korboryn of Twitter! Torvanskir has spotted a delicious looking prize atop a flimsy tower. An easy steal.

Dragon! Big tail! Wings! It's got it all. What else can you ask for? I tried a few small tweaks to the process on this one, mostly in trying to get my colors to harmonize a bit better, and alternating blending brushes into my rendering a little more. The former worked well, the latter needs... A little bit more work. Mostly because I am still unsure exactly where to set my settings to blend AND texture in a nice way, but maybe that's my ailing tablet's sensitivity problem more than it is me? I'll have to play around a little bit more.

Dragon!

Definitely a comfort zone piece for me, but I still tried to push things a little bit further than normal. So I don't have a lot to say on the process, beyond the usual. It feels like a very "uh, duh" moment, but doing a very transparent Multiply layer of a nice, warm, orange tone early on really helped me feel like my colors weren't an absolute mess until the very end. Instead, I actually found I was really happy with them right away, so that was a lot of stress off my shoulders! I need to remember to do that more often.

Starting to get annoyed with my tablet, though. I swear, I'm not going with Wacom again if this thing dies. I love having a screen display, don't get me wrong; that part I won't go back on, so I know whatever I look to next will still cost a fair amount. But the fact that now I'm starting to have sensitivity issues, like the pen just blinking out of existence while I'm mid-stroke, or hanging in place after changing the size of the brush (which can cause ugly straight lines when it finally realizes the pen moved from point A to point B) is driving me nuts. You'd think for how expensive Wacom's tablets are, their hardware AND drivers would be better by now, but gosh. I actively look forward to when I'm using some other company's product. What a shame.

I've been trying, TRYING to stream again, as well. It's been... Hit or miss? I wasn't good about it last week, but I'm still aiming for the Thursday to Sunday goal, with Sundays going to try to be my sketch days again. We'll... See how that goes. Part of me still is embarrassed by my streams and the content available, but I know that's just some anxiety talking.

Other than that... I don't have a whole lot going on on the back-end to let people know about. My days are pretty much wake up, morning routine, work, play a game, sleep, repeat. I suppose my updates are not the most in-depth or engaging, but. I hope that's okay!

My next piece is kind of big, so it might be a little bit into September before you see another full illustration from me. I do want... NEED... to do more personal work though. So maybe I'll try looking into that, too. Gives me a chance to faff about, perhaps.
