TheDataDB Update July 2019

Welcome to TheDataDB monthly newsletter for July. We missed last month’s update, but fear not, the site has undergone a lot of work over this time and we thought it was better to keep the features coming!
TheSportsDB
This month we are going to dive into the latest changes on TheSportsDB first.
One of the biggest features of last month, was the addition of Youtube video highlights which has been a huge success already! Imagine being able to watch highlights of most sports right in your browser for free!
Many sports now upload clips to Youtube, so we’ve been able to collate and attach to them events on the site. Great examples of this include NASCAR racing, the women’s World Cup (in full 50fps glory direct from FIFA), and Formula 1 qualifying as well as the actual race!
The latest highlights will show up on our front page as well as the individual league pages. This data is of course available from our API, so we can’t wait to see what developers come up with.

The last big feature for this month on TheSportsDB involves additional player data and artwork. It is now possible to assign a kit sponsor to any player as well as specifying their shoe brand and model. Lastly, we have added the ability to upload a frontal cut-out as well as an action render of the player. These artwork types are a great way of listing players in a team and work really well over the top of fanart or gradient backgrounds.

On the data side of things, our users have been working hard on the data and content completing all kinds of teams and leagues. Particular thanks go to new user and Patreon supporter 'cydalby' who has been working on filling out any missing results from leagues over the 2018-2019 season.
We've also fulfilled requests to add the Women's Soccer World Cup and the African Cup Of Nations.
There has been a large amount of progress on motorsport data recently, with various leagues and events added. Our users have been working hard to give all the motorsport teams logos and descriptions which is quite a task. Shout out to user ‘smudgie’ who has been keeping motorsport events up-to-date with results and artwork as they happen as well as filling out many players from teams all over the site.

In addition, the new 2019-2020 NFL and MLB schedules have been uploaded including pre-season games, and all the PGA golf tour has also been uploaded.
Our users continue to add TV schedule data from around the world, particular thanks go to the user ‘ovokx’ for his dedication in this area.
TheAudioDB
We’ve been working on some new artwork types for TheAudioDB site and creating some templates to make it easy for users to create the artwork and upload. New artwork types include 3D covers and particularly the new 3D single template. These are high resolution PNG transparent images which look great on various backgrounds. Some of these types can already be used in the beta scrapers for the Kodi HTPC software so we expect lots of interest once that feature rolls out to the masses. You can find the templates on our forums here.

TheMealDB
TheMealDB has had some new regions added in North Africa, as well as Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia after specific requests from a few of our supporters. Any supporter can add a new meal recipe for these regions using the link on Patreon. Hopefully in the near future we will get at least 10 recipes for each of these locations. If you want to add a recipe just click this link.
We’ve also expanded the ingredients to 500+ all with high resolution images, the next step is to provide a description in English for each ingredient.

TheCocktailDB
We’ve added some new cocktails and photos to TheCocktailDB.
How about an “Espresso Rumtini” to start off the evening (or morning) then move onto the classic “Negroni” (which has been updated with a great new image!)? Lastly why not try out the “Spritz Veneziano” on a hot summers day? A particular favourite of one of our users who added it to the site!
We are working with some photographers on a plan to update all the images, your donations will be going directly towards this project so please keep them up!

Patreon Supporter Update
Our Patreon supporter base continues to grow, which helps with our bottom-line and enables us to keep these sites running and the new features to be added. As of the end of June, we had 69 Patreon supporters, which is our highest ever! Particular thanks go to the supporters at the higher dollar levels.
At the moment we are saving up the contributions for a couple of months to pay for an official photographer to take images for TheCocktailDB. Each new image will have a new API tag of strCreativeCommonsConfirmed to show how the image is licensed. All our images will be licensed CC and can be used by anyone as long as they are credited to us somewhere in your app. We believe in open-source and will distribute our data and artwork accordingly.
New feature or content request? Let us know!
As the summer is fast approaching, we tend to get more time to add new features to the site. Is there something you wish to see on any TheDataDB site? Maybe some more content or a new feature? Just let us know and don’t forget our site data is built by you, the user. Just sign up on our forums to start adding data or artwork…
A feature we are hoping to complete over the summer is language translations. We already have had some help to translate TheCocktailDB site into German but we are looking for other translators to help out with more languages. If you think you can help, shoot us an email at zag2me@kodi.tv
Cheers,
Zag.
