TheDataDB Update August 2019

Welcome to the latest monthly update to keep you, our Patreon supporters, updated on the latest and greatest developments across all of TheDataDB sites.

Interview with The API List

We were excited to have been approached by The API List, one of the most recommended API resources on the web visited by thousands of developers a year, and utilised by universities as a resource when teaching about APIs.

Initially they enquired about adding the TheCocktailDB to their directory, and then invited us to take part in an interview which we extended to encompass all of TheDataDB family of sites and APIs.

The interview and listing are both now live so take a look to learn more about our origins, philosophy, ambitions and most importantly, a big thank you to our supporters over the last 10 years!

As it’s impossible for us to sit still even though no significant feature updates this month, we have made some strides to improve site wide performance.

Now available via the API are two new features.

Sprechen sie Deutsch? Unfortunately, not us! Although as a result of a request and help from a very dedicated supporter, we now have the instructions on how to create over 500 cocktails in both English and German! Big thanks!

In addition, we added an API method to browse cocktails by their first letter.

A few exciting feature updates have taken place on the front-end website and database, these include:

· Player render images now show (if present for the player) on the player team pages

· You can now add links to match/event reports on other websites to the corresponding event pages, so when these are added the icon of the event report source site will display

For developers, we have also added an API method to pull the latest YouTube event highlights, so that can be shown or built into an app or website of desired.

As a result of some user requests, we have added some Turkish and Dutch recipes to the database! No connection between the two (obviously!) but always fun to be learning more about different cuisines from around the world! If you have any other requests or recipes in particular that you’d like to be added, let us know via the website.
