2022-03-08 16:32:09 +0000 UTCYeah... part of me DID felt Disney was putting SOME effort with Carlos's actor death passing... replacing him so soon would've been in bad taste... but then again: being so "hesitant" about the character's status was bad form. But to be fair: I think this MIGHT be the work of network censors: This IS suppose be a " made for TV movie/special for kids" and for that kind of... "genre" they have to go through a few hoops (IE: no direct on screen violence to others or include some educational material), so maybe they COULDN'T just say Carlos is dead for it... but anything they could have done would been in bad taste/form too, so they left it vague? Again: I am just assuming here. Considering how heartless the Disney Company can be to various degrees, I am not sure of anything with them.

2022-03-07 06:29:01 +0000 UTCThe moment I heard the wedding march at the beginning, I was already weak 🤣. Y'all seriously crack me up with these Descendants reviews. I still can't believe I watched the 3 movies myself after y'all reviewed the movies. This horrible animation here literally resembles those very rushed Golden Films rip off movies, except (I hate to say this 🥴) those movies were more fluid. This movie doing less than Golden Films and Titanic the Legend Goes On is astoundingly horrific.

2022-03-07 06:27:35 +0000 UTCThe whole thing about Carlos being dead makes even less sense when you remember part of the backstory for this franchise had King Adam raise the villains from the dead so he could banish them. Y'know what might have been a better idea to write Carlos out of this story? Have a brief phone call where where we only hear one side of it where one of the characters is talking to Carlos, who is out of Aurodon because he's busy setting up an animal hospital or shelter or something, and there was a sudden accident of some kind that makes it so he'll miss the wedding. We then have one of the characters say, "That okay, Carlos. Even if you're not here, you'll always be here in spirit" or something as a nod to the actor's passing. My best guess for Pain and Panic is King Adam had them permanently form locked to prevent them from doing some of the crap they did as tiny imps... That, or the two fucked humans and these two. Take your pick. As for why Maleficent is still a lizard, my theory is that in the first movie, she didn't overpower the fairy godmother, but out sped her. She was able to stop her just because her spell was quicker to say/activate. However, because the fairy godmother's more powerful, she can't break the spell that turned her into a little lizard. A joke explanation I have for Carlos and so many other characters not being here is Thanos snapped them out of existence and the bracelet glowing is because Hulk brought them back.

2022-03-07 02:16:42 +0000 UTCWhat the hell is that ending? Okay, so it's more important to Mal that she gets married surrounded by the people she loves than it is for her to have a fancy ceremony. That's cool. But in the end, aren't there a lot of people who you'd think she'd want there that weren't. Loni, Uma, Jane, Dizzy, Doug, Harry, Gil, Celia, a good chunk of the supporting cast Mal has grown up with on her journey aren't here. Surely if she wanted Audrey at her wedding, she'd want some of them there too. Also, this is animated so couldn't they bring some of Wicked World characters to this special. That's more characters.

2022-03-07 01:49:33 +0000 UTCI feel that it is a bit disrespectful to write off a character because the actor has departed, especially if it is in between installments (this makes me worry for what Disney is gonna do with T’Challa) and recasting can be a bit of a challenge for a number of reasons, but as you said “The show must go on”.

2022-03-07 01:03:09 +0000 UTCI will never understand NOT recasting cartoon characters. When even live action ones like Dumbledore or James Bond get recast, why not toons? It was so annoying when Edna Crabapple was written out of the Simpsons just a few episodes after marrying Flanders because her VA died. Yet they had no problems replacing Karl and Dr Hubbard recently... And Carlos' death here is especially stupidly written (or rather, not written) considering that pretty much ALL the parents of these villain kids DIED in their own movies. Yet they are here, alive and well.

2022-03-07 00:47:24 +0000 UTCI think the squirrels and the dog were actually traditional 2D, but the humans seem to be all just 3D models traced to 2D. It's just evident by how similar all their body types and movements are, nothing is fluid about their movement. They just draw an outline over a 3D model, fill it and call it a day. (And indeed, what do people use now that flash is no more?) And the 6 frames per second, really shows, they seem to freeze sometimes they move so slow.

Still, even though they make it seems obvious that the character passed away in series, the fact that they don't say it outright makes me worry he'll just pop up in Wonderland for no reason, like he just got lost there and missed the wedding.

Hell, Carlos could go out throwing himself in the black cauldron. I mean, you NEED a sacrifice to destroy/stop that. Plus it would allow a, in my opinion, GREATLY under estimated Disney film a small bit more in the spotlight. I mean if this franchise is gonna do anything, may as well try to get some lesser properties more attention right? But hey, small plus, now that I know what they look like animated, it's that much easier to imagine Emperor Belos, Bill Cipher, and Zhan Tiri laying siege to Aurodon all on their owns. No armies needed.
