2023-10-24 04:16:25 +0000 UTCThe concept honestly isn’t the worst in the. Lovecraftian fiction can be surprisingly pliable. I heard someone did a spin on Terror At Red Hook that rebukes some classist elements in the original. Some people say the Shape Of Water is a subversion of the Lovecraft story about a town of fish people. But seriously a setting with nothing but ice? R’lyeh is supposed to filled with strange buildings designed with bizarre geometry. And a giant staircase leading to the door Cthulhu emerges from. And if they wanted to use Cthulhu but make him a kind of pet monster, either make a shrinking spell part of it, or make the thing his offspring. And if you need a scheming royal as the villain, why not Nyarlathotep? Trying to mind control Cthulhu would be pretty in character.
