The NeverEnding Story: The Animated Adventure Review

Comments

Except the Unknown was played by a female.

I some how mis-remembered G'Mork being a more frequent villain, pity.

Dang it... figures you have a new video on something I have interest in while I was at work for a call in-shift... at least i had something fun after a long day. At least it was more bitter luck than just bad luck for me. Yeah... this show was a mess. Trying too hard to be a book while being like the movies too. I kinda like G'Mork in this series... or just the TWO episodes he is in. :/ While in the dark void, his outline is bright red, and tempts those who cross his path "freedom from their burdens", giving him a bery sinister and devilish aura too him. Plus being huges in chest and arms help too... but even with my furry macho-fan friends, we found his tiny legs and no-tail too off putting for him. (I know it IS a design trope to show upper-body strength, but it doesn't work in this detailed style... also doesn't work when your "theme" is suppose to NOTHING). A good fun review for me. I needed the good nature laugh and reminder of trying to be more open to unknown things... though I have to sadly tell you... there is ANOTHER NeverEnding Story show. And it IS serialize... A Live Action tv-mini-special that is just absurd and silly ANY of the sequels... I think IMDB has it as "Tales From the Neverending Story"... best of luck to the two of you when you cross it.

And yeah, the first episode is basically a much more kid friendly rewrite of the Shlamoofs story from the book. They indeed look like mummy maggots who are so hideous they cry constantly. Bastian comes across them and like every kid who thinks he knows the solution to all the world's problem, wishes they were happy all the time, turning them into madcap jokerized caterpillars. This comes back to bite him in the ass - firstly, the Silver City needed their tears for the acid lake, and they can no longer fashion tools from silver now. Second, these loud obnoxious clowns come back to thank Bastian when he is past a great moral crisis and is trying to unearth his memories from a mine, and of course their noise shatters them... Thus proving maybe we should not play god and mess with the nature of things.

Man, your long-fingered masked friend is creepy! That mask gives me vibes of when Doug had M. Night Shaylaman appear on his reviews this way. As for Bastian not wishing for every problem to be resolved by Aurin - the second half of the book deals with how every wish makes him more and more callous and mad with power. I feel this takes place after those events and Bastian learned not to overdo it with the wishes.

I'll give props to this one for actually following some plots from the books, which the second and third movies completely ignored - like Grograman the Fire Lion (a symbol of destruction and rebirth), Igramul the Many, or the crazy Shlamoofs clown-moths whom Bastian created to be that funny and destructive in the first place. I always assumed though that this was inspired by and based on the third movie, since it has Bark Troll, who was a prominent character in that one, as well as the Rockbiter baby.

Eh, it's technically not an anime, but an American web series styled after anime. Still, I understand.

Verdant Range

We had to Google what that was. He doesn't review anime. The only way anime ends up on Bobsheaux is if it's a complete parody review done by C. Nile and Mimi Fox on Animesheaux.

Great conclusion to this series of reviews

If you want to see a thing with an apathy monster, you may want to check out RWBY. In volume 6, one of the monsters they fight (called Grimm) is a variety called The Apathy, and we see these grimm were able to wipe out a whole village.

Yay, thanks for reviewing this show, so many people do not even know it exists. :)

This show does seem like it was dumb. Good themed month. The pure imagination song at the end made me say to myself, I miss Gene Wilder.

The end of Neverending Story Month!
