PICTURE PREVIEW: Rugrats

Behold. My next project at Mashed. They wanted a video where Sonic and his friends turn into babies. OK, I said. I'll do it.

Right now it's in a very early state, so these are the only drawings I've made for it. Just figuring out how the designs ought to look. I've written the first draft of the script so far, and it's just barely bordering on way too long. Even regarding that, though, I'm actually pretty proud of it. The story is pretty basic, so I really wanted the characters and comedy to take the forefront.

It's an extremely Eggman-centric story actually. And surely, you might know what that means! ME TRYING TO TROJAN HORSE AN ORBOT AND CUBOT CARTOON ONTO THE MASHED CHANNEL :DDD

Seriously though. All the Sonic cartoons that are currently floating in my Mashed Pitch bubble involve Orbot and Cubot. If you don't know, they're kind of my favorite Sonic characters. I love writing for them. I think they're so funny. They're definitely my favorite of the "Eggman lackey" archetype. If this cartoon comes out and Orbot and Cubot's parts have been cut out, just know that it's because The world and Mashed HATES ME!!!!!!!!!

But yeah. Comedy and character. Those are my strong points I think. I like to have the jokes driven by the characters more than anything else, I think. Hopefully that shines through. My production partner King said it's a really strong script so we'll see. Let's hope it comes out good! It's still possible we're gonna have to shave a full minute from it as is, so if that happens, I promise to share any dearly beloved cut jokes here!
