I've been trying to draw these every day. Like a job! LOL. Yeah. No no but for real, here's some more drawings I like from the next video for Mashed. Since I'm drawing so much on this, I'm hoping my updates will be much more frequent than they were in November. I had to chill out in November big time.
I've gotten an idea for a video I'm gonna put on my own channel in relation to this one. Since this was a story that I REALLY had to trim down, there were a good few ideas that had to be ommitted. So I'm probably gonna do mockup storyboards of those at some point and edit it all together like a deleted scenes reel. I think that'd be fun, I want at least some people to see what I had in mind with those.
Oh yeah, actually, I want to talk a bit about that one background layout I drew! Image #6.
So for all the animatics I make at Mashed, I also need to do BG layouts so the background artist knows what to draw for the animation. Duh! Every single shot needs at least a note to explain the background, but preferably a drawing.
This particular background I put a lot of thought into. NERD ramble warning!!!!! So, Princess Daisy is living there. But, I was thinking, well Daisy has her own kingdom right? Sarasaland. But surely she's got some place she stays when she's at the Mushroom Kingdom. She can't be making the cross-kingdom commute every single time she wants to hang out with Peach.
I decided to design like... a royal hotel-palace thingy? Kind of based on the SMB1 castles. That's the idea. It's not really made clear within the story, but it was important to me. To ME. I want to really make it feel like you're stepping into a version of the Mario world that exists outside of this video. You could live here. Go on, do it. Live in this moment. Be immersed. I'm like james cameron, if he made Spongebob comedy video game parody videos. or something. It's late.
