CLIP: Cute wipe transition

I'M STILL HERE! OK, Whenever I take a while to post twice a week, it's actually because I'm hard at work. Honest!

Today we have a tailor shop themed wipe transition that will be in the new video. The new video, for mashed... Say when is that... coming out.... NEXT WEEK!?!?!? đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±đŸ˜±

But yes. The transition. It's cute ain't it? It was actually sort of complicated to set up. Let me show you the project timeline for this one shot to prove it:

That's eight layers! Well, it's seven in the picture, because I couldn't fit the background later in the screenshot. That's how COMPLICATED this is!!!

I'm glad I got it all working though. This kind of screenwipe is very much inspired by Chowder. I think Adventure Time did it at least once, specifically in the short with BMO thumbwars a rodent in the flour.

Speaking of screenwipes, I gotta RANT a little bit about this. So, for all my videos at Mashed, like, I've been doing so many wipe transitions in the animatics. SO many. The linear "left-to-right" screen wipes and the clockwipes to be exact. I put these in every animatic, but you know what happens? The final edit ALWAYS gets rid of them in favor of a crossfade. If I don't manually edit the scenes that I submit to Mashed to keep the wipe transitions, they just won't happen. Can you believe that? I don't want to be the uptight brat about it either, and be all "Um, could you like um, try to keep the screenwipes?" Because 1. I would feel like a massive jerk over a pretty small detail, and 2. Part of me is kind of like, "What if it's against their policy to edit wipe transitions? Or the software they use doesn't have it, or it crashes their renders, or whatever?" I would just like to keep them, though. They're cool. Adventure Time has them all the time, and I feel like I never see many other shows that have them. There's just something that a crossfade doesn't convey, you know? Ah, but rant over, rant over.

Yeah, like I said, this is coming out next week. REALLY SOON. I still have parts to animate... one shot in particular I'm worried about. I've never run out of time on one of these before, so I'm sure I can get it done. This will just have to be an insanely productive weekend.
