SONIC'S LAST LIFE PT2 coming this week! (WARNING: HORRIBLE GORE AND VIOLENCE)

I will admit, this completely snuck up on me! The return of Sonic's Last Life is not on the horizon, it's basically here! I haven't been posting a ton of preview images since most of my work has slowed down and it's been largely up to other sides of production getting it out the door. I'm really impressed with their work, though, especially with how fast it's having to be finished. I actually don't know if it is finished yet? But Mashed is set on this week. So I guess it better be soon.

I've largely got some miscellaneous scraps to show you here. A couple reference frames I did with the help of King, some of them particularly gruesome. I'll be honest, because it's such a departure from my usual output, I think some might get the idea that I'm trying to be really edgy or being forced to get really gory. But no, no, it was actually really fun to draw those. They're pretty over the top, to a comedic extent but also to drive some of the horrific-ness of it all. I actually really like how that splat-flattened Sonic looks.

People REALLY got into the first part, so I'm anxious for the reception to its conclusion. This one, I'll admit, I'm a little worried about, because it's definitely the furthest I've pushed outside of the conventional characterization people would expect from an official SEGA property. I'm bracing for the litany of "He would never do that 😡" responses.

Nevertheless, I'm still maintaining the same mission goal I have with all of these. I just personally like these characters and am writing them in a way that feels authentic to why I enjoy them, personally. Most of the time that seems to align with why others like them too, but I know many Sonic fans can be extremely particular when it comes to how characters are portrayed and how they behave. Just come at it with an open mind, okay?

Alright, time to log off before I start sounding self-conscious. I'M REALLY PROUD of the work here, and I think you will enjoy it! More than that, I actually have ideas for expanding this particular corner of my Mashed Sonic universe that I hope I'm able to pursue very soon. The guys at Mashed are very satisfied with the reception to this and are open to seeing more. I have a pitch called "Sonic's First Life" that I really want to make happen. I haven't gotten the go-ahead on it so cross those fingers!

ONE LAST THING. I swear I'll be done. But I was also told Mashed is going to host an AMA on their discord some time after this second part releases? So KEEP AN EAR OUT FOR THAT!
