Modding Diary - Bug Fixin and Future Plans
Added 2024-09-06 21:28:53 +0000 UTCHi Guys! I hope you all are enjoying the NICU update! π
I have been fixing on bug fixing this past week. Here are the potential bugs for this update that I am investigating/fixing:
Hospital Visit are not working for sims who dont have parents
Lagging when spending over a day at the hospital postpartum(which might be caused by bug #3)
Incubator mesh glitching when playing on low graphics
Before anyone jump at me and say " I can't find childbirth settings and other people are having this issue too??"
It is 100% caused user error, for my sanity please read the tutorial at the bottom of the post and follow it until it works
I am currently trying to fix the visual glitch on low graphic settings:
in case you are curious this is what im dealing with π₯². the incubator mesh basically explodes and Im slowly losing my mind because it makes absolutely no sense and Ive tried everything I can think of at this point. The only thing left for me to do is to re build the whole incubator from scratch, which might be what I will have to do.

today is the last day I will spend trying to fix this incubator, if I still can't figure it out I will rebuild it and have the bug fix released by next Tuesday because I will be going on vacation next Wednesday! :D
Upcoming AFK Notice:
I will be away from Sep 11th-20th. Me and my partner are going to Disney world to see Micky mouse! :D
Nest Update:
For the next major update of the childbirth mod I think I can either do the midwife active career or an update that enables death through childbirth.π³
In the midwife active career your sim will need to study for their Midwifery Education Program and pass their Exam. They will then be able to conduct pap smear, blood tests, ultrasound, deliver test results, and eventual assist with home/hospital birth and taking care of the baby/mom after birth.
in the death update sims and their babies will have more sever health conditions that might result in their death during/post childbirth. The death update will have to either be a separate download or requires players to turn it on in game manually because I know not everyone likes to see stuff like that. I have been hesitant to make something like this because I always thought it was too grim, but at the same time I kept getting asked and it seems like its a really popular idea.
What are your thoughts on what you want to see in the next update? π€Please leave a comment below! I will gather the most popular ideas and make a poll either next week or when I am back from vacation and see what I should do for the next update!
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
FAQ:
Can't find childbirth settings:
Make sure you are pressing down the shift key on your keyboard when clicking on your sim, if you still don't see it, it could mean you never enabled the cheat menu in game. To Enable the cheat menu you need to press down Ctrl+Shift+C on your keyboard, which will open a white input bar at the top left corner of your screen, type in testingcheats true and press enter, and try shift clicking on your sim again. If you still don't see it it means the mod is not installed correctly,
Text bubbles are blank:
You didnt delete the old versions of the mod or have an outdated translation if you ever downloaded translations. follow this tutorial to find your mod duplicates
Sims going into "Inpatient recovery" after birth:
You need to update Health Care Redux to the latest version
Baby disappears as soon as they are born:
there wasn't enough room near the surgery machine/bed for the incubator to spawn, or you manually placed down an incubator in the slot the surgery machine uses to spawn its incubator. either way make sure there's NOTHING overlapping the surgery machine's footpring.
