It def can be categorized as a filler like ppl have said but its so much fun IMO and has good character moments for our two leads. Good reflections on the past. The fly could be a metaphor for many things. His guilty conscience, the many parts of his life that are irreversibly tainted, and prob most of all his lack of control. To add to the list from the previous episode, he now knows Jesse is taking meth and can't do anything about it. Makes the fly stuff more reactionary and rationalized even if still insane. I love Walt's last line "It's all contaminated" before passing out lol. Poignant stuff. You prob can't catch everything at first watch so you might enjoy it more retroactively as the series progresses. Directed by Ryan Johnson btw so u know the episode was destined to be divisive haha

2023-05-23 16:33:47 +0000 UTCYeah to be fair this is one of those episodes that get better when you rewatch the show. At first it seems to kill all the hype of the previous episodes, but knowing what comes next it's an alright filler, considering they only used 2 actors and 1 location.

Interestingly thou a lot of fans believe this episode is very important to the story as you mentioned it's Walt coming to grips with what he's done and the position he finds himself in and let's see how this plays out
