So the reason the series ends that way, idk if you’ve looked into it: basically the show as approved by Nickelodeon one season at a time, where as avatar was given three. So the writers write each season as if that was going to be the end of the series. It really put a huge damper on through lines between seasons and rushed them completing the storyline. So I watch the first two seasons like they are self contained, which they were written to be. I think they got season three and four approved at the same time, so those line up a lot better and don’t feel so rushed. Also the last whole season was made to air not even on TV, but in the app. The series went through team changes due to huge budget cuts and the network not wanting to salivate proper funds to the show. So keep in mind all of that when watching it. The show, IMO, succeeds with these limitations in mind.
