Hey awesome people!
Today was a mix of news: On the bad side my most favorite event every year, Trojan Horse Was A Unicorn, officially got cancelled this year. Most of us were already expecting this to happen, but it's still a bit heartbreaking to have a definite NO. But they are planning some exciting online events in the meantime and I can highly recommend you to check them out. For me this series of events has been one of the biggest contributing factors to my growth and career as an artist. And more: the people I meet there every year are almost like a family for me now.
But now to the good news: Some months ago there was a call for submissions for an upcoming exhibition in a North Sea resort town fully dedicated to the topic of plastic waste in the sea. It is supposed to be lighthearted and tourist-friendly, but raising awareness of this important topic. And because of this topic I really wanted to be part of the project and I did my best to whip out this huge illustration last minute. And today I got the news that my work has been chosen to be part of the exhibition, yay! So now I can finally show this mermaid/selkie and her seal friends with you.
I rarely draw this big and after finishing this I think I should do it more often! It's just a pain in the ass to figure out how to scan and where to store all the large artworks, haha.

See, it barely fits on my drawing table!
The exhibition itself will be in September... maybe? Let's see how the situation develops until then. But there will also be a printed catalog of all the artworks... if I manage to scan this monster.
Btw. if you are into mermaids and plastic waste (weird), you should definitely check out and support The Little Trashmaid here on Patreon!
