This is part 1 of detailed lore focus on Planet Tal's Train Technology. I am considering expanding upon these lore details in the future if my patreon membership increases in the future!
Tal's people have always been heavily reliant on animal or human power for moving and transportation for a long time. Since most of them have excellent travel speeds on their own, they were not in need of things like bicycles as a necessity. Wheels were often hard to use on Tal's rugged, untamed lands as is. In most of the cases, cars and bikes had always been used as auxiliary tools, providing horsepower and manpower to their tasks.
In Gold Ring, cars were generally used in daily life, but the usage of electric trains on the deserts Salt Road were impossible. Because of the nature of the Salt Road, they needed a very long distance to travel whilst avoiding extensive, deep sandy fields and possible blowing sandstorms, it was next to impossible to create a railway there whilst avoiding these natural obstacles. Thus, the Eltus use caravans with carriages for transport across the desert in the meantime.
The very first trains appeared in Reono after the war. The battered Shigu and Reono were in need of rapid reform and reconstruction. The Agudner engineers then set their sights on the tunnels of the Lyvank mountains which were already previously dug out. They had designed a trolley train to Shigu from Reono and then immediately laid down a line. Albeit quite clumsy in initial design, it worked well as a means of transportation.
In the early stage, those trolley trains had been used for transporting materials, but they noticed Shigu lands have many wild elements in their lands and plains like the Astna. To avoid miasma that seeps in from the shallow and plain forests, trains for people had been developed on Shigu's civilized area mainly.
Agudner engineers had been desperately pressed and considered a way to construct a line which connects Shigu to Reono and then Gold Ring, by using similar technology, but all of the existing means of transportation via the Salt Road that have already been thought up could not be changed easily, so instead, Gold Ring relies on it's tramways to connect it's towns.
Subnote: Unfortunately, the technology for subways was never developed.
