Vilous | Gold Ring Road Guards [Pre-reading the Raw Concept]

They stem from the same vein of Gold Ring's law, with a similar appearance to Garden Knights, with distinctions.

Their armors lack the usual gold engraving and carving, looking somewhat plain. They also are a half-plate design, lighter than the full Garden Knight regalia, with a practical weight with only simple engraving or none at all. They also have badges, the design not ready yet.

Because they guard the way towards Reono, Gold Ring's Golden Knights have gained a reputation in those parts. Gold Knight is a term coined by people that generally refers to Gold Ring's army. Garden Knights are the symbol of Central GR, and Road Guards are the soldiers who defend the national interest of GR and GR Law. Both of which, fall under the same umbrella term "Gold Knight".

It is known that Garden Knights do not go outside of the inner districts of Gold Ring, except on special days. These two types of Knights are similar, but have highly different occupations altogether.

Unlike the Garden Knights, the Road Guard profession has a weighty history behind it, in ancient times, they used to sport heavy, half-plate variants of their armor made out of metal. This half-plate regalia did not have vivid, gold colour like now, it was more or less close to copper. The change came along with the Garden Knights and their inception.

Most of the Roar Guard armor parts are made from Pigs and Cow skin, sometimes even Horse. The desert and the Salt Road always presents a danger of sinkage by sand worms and their traffic. Thus, their armors and motions need to be lightweight and agile, in order for them to best protect carriages and caravans. Because trade is a national interest, Road Guards will be tasked with and officially licensed to carry out cargo inspections and protect valuable caravans with cargo.

Because trade is a national interest, Road Guards will be tasked with and officially licensed to carry out cargo inspections and protect valuable caravans with cargo.

Even though they mainly protect roads, they are also scattered within the city of GR. They protect the trade market from threats and sometimes enact quarantine measures. Due to Reono's Talyxian fauna being akin to a Pandora's box effect, the number of parasites and such sneaking in could cause serious pandemics. Not even Nevrean thieves would know how to handle these types of situations, therefore, the Road Knights try to cover this aspect as best as they can, even though there are experts which are trained specifically to watch for any illegal contraband or possible outbreaks.

All incoming traffic towards Gold Ring, is subject to Gold Ring Law. Just the same as all Gold Knights fall under Gold Ring's law, so do the imports and exports. Caravan travelers and their cargo have to obey certain rules and restrictions. Cargo transporters need to have a license issued under Gold Ring's law.

Individuals travelling to Gold Ring as tourists or visitors via caravans are not subjected to much scrutiny, unless they carry illegal cargo. In other words, in order to have a license issued, one would have the right and the obligation to posses a cargo deemed important for Gold Ring. Thus, Gold Ring's law will protect them, just as Gold Ring would protect it's local businesses. A shop may sell goods without a license, however if they want to sell alcohol, they would need one, for example.

In order to become a Road Guard, one must go through the sign up process and an exam, similar to that of Garden Knights, however there are differences. The Road Guards are open to all members of the Eltus to apply, unlike Garden Knights where they take in only Yellow and Gold furred Sergals.

Their exam is also highly practical, as opposed to a focus on historical studies and general aptitudes. Prior knowledge of Red Gardener qualifications, deserts, markets, etc are given priority and preferential treatment.

In Episode 3, we can see some Road Guards protect the colloseum and Talyxian animals, as well as the market after the show. They were also responsible for protecting the people of Vetla and their musicians, including the Nevreans!
