Yeah, Kaido did in fact take no damage from that lmao. Funny thinking back to WCI when you thought Luffy could put up a fight against Big Mom, whilst being weaker than what he is here.

2025-06-22 05:07:12 +0000 UTCOda's vision for Wano was a kabuki theatre format, and he went all out and fulfills his dreams for that setting unencumbered by his other arc styles and lengths. Traditionally, kabuki plays were in a 5 act system called JO-HA-KYU, where Jo is Act 1, Ha is Acts 2-4, and Kyu is Act 5. It is easier however to simply treat it as 3 Acts, or arcs even. The cheeky way he imitated the tradition of having someone announce each Act so far is one of my favorite trivia, in theory. When Luffy approached Wano, the octopus kept saying "YO" to announce JO. When the Wano crew saw that Luffy was beaten already, they kept saying "HUH?" to announce HA.
