CC and Evolving as a Service
Added 2020-11-16 11:06:44 +0000 UTCFirstly, we’d like to preface this announcement by thanking each and every one of you for the support you’ve graciously provided us during this pandemic, both Patrons and non-Patrons alike. You have the heartfelt gratitude of every team member here at CC. We’ve realized that it’s best that we bring forward our concerns with CC and its operation as a service these past few months so as to bring in some well-deserved transparency to all of you.
Since our launch in June, we’ve done our best to provide our supporters and the community with the content they desire. We’ve gotten a great deal of aid from members of the community to bolster up our efforts, and for that, we are thankful. Despite all this, we, the CC team, don’t believe that we are bringing in an adequate quantity of projects to our supporters. In our endeavors to narrow down why this is the case and how we may address it, we’ve recognized that we’ve been subject to one glaring issue: Many of our projects simply don’t come in on time. As of late, it has been a trend for our commissioned artists to fail to meet with our deadlines, despite having laid them out prior to the initiation of a project. In fact, some artists have even ended up taking our funds and laid dormant as to updates or responses for months. Out of the eleven projects we’ve put out thus far, not including our Demon Lord comic or the translation for Kimi ni Naru 2.0, three have taken upwards of three months to get proper correspondence with the artist so as to develop a fully-fledged project. At present, we have 8 projects in development hell without any sign of the artists reappearing to continue their respective projects even after taking full payment. CommCaravan is a service dedicated to making our supporters’ ideas and desires come to fruition, but it’s clear as day that without responsive artists, our operations begin to crumble.
Many projects intended for our Sequence Supporter tier have gotten the axe due to unresponsive artists, and the tier has suffered for it. Initially, we planned to bring in affordable and rapidly produced projects to supporters of the tier so that our portfolio would thicken up and satisfy our patrons while large-scale comic projects are produced in the background. Of course, it’s plain to see that this plan didn’t come to fruition due to our artist issues. Our collective motivation to strengthen the tier faltered as we were hit left and right with unreliable artists, and we are very sorry to those who felt the tier was not providing them with what they were looking for.
In spite of the negativity in those last two paragraphs, the CC team is still going strong. We recognize that managing CC is going to be a wild ride as the months go by, but we want you to know that we are working hard at adapting to and addressing whatever issues come our way. Starting December 2020, Sequence Supporters will gain access to all comic-based projects prior to this November as well as a permanent upgrade allowing them to view the sketches to comic-based projects.

It really sucks that artists keep ghosting you guys. Do you think they think CC is easy prey or something? Hopefully artists in the future start keeping their word.
