Everything About 1980s Mode

Here it is! The massive 31-minute-long video that I spent so much time working on!

This video covers nearly every detail about 1980s Mode, and provides a lot of insight into the development process and my reasoning for including certain things in the game.

I really hope that you're going to enjoy watching this one!

Thank you very much for your kind words! I appreciate it a lot!

I appreciate watching your progress over the years through your blog posts and videos, you've done wonderful work on this game and its constantly improving. Thanks so much for all of your hard work! I can't wait for when we get to learn more about the story. 1980s mode is great, and i cant wait to see how you polish it! (Im interested for the day all students have profiles and tasks...i know thats not a priority but I think theres a lot of potential waiting to be established) thank you again!

I'm really enjoying this update!!! Im a long time follower of the game, but I have only played when the demo originally released and now with 1980s mode. I reallyl ike the new rivals! How they talk to Senpai and how he talks to them is distinct and interesting! Ai was so charismatic I decided I had to kill her on day one to stop Senpai from falling for her haha. My favorite so far is Teiko, her design is really cute. I think her routine makes her a bit too easy to get rid of, although I'm befriending her. But she seems to be alone a lot for a later rival.

Personally, I feel like 1980s Mode is too easy. It doesn't reflect the level of difficulty that I want the final game to have. With that said, this makes 1980s Mode a good "practice run" for people who are new to the game and want to gain familiarity with it before they jump into the full game.

OMG! A real tutorial!! <3 Thanks. I couldn't get past most things in Yandere Simulator because I had no idea how reputation works or how to move around etc etc. I planned to watch a guide or something once the game has progressed more to show me how to NOT get a massive penalty in reputation while trying to do things.

I am very glad for this release. If I may ask, as I find Yandere Simulator a bit tough for me (I don't play hitman and stealth games) is this mode easier? And most importantly, do we have access to the guide like in Yandere Simulator with the info-chan that tells us the steps needed to eliminate a rival? EDIT: I see we do. Thanks.

FGD12

Thank you!

Sure, you can give them the subject "80s Inaccuracy."

YandereDev

Would you prefer 80s inaccuracy report emails to have a certain subject line other than "bug"?

Bea Bunni

Can you actually give this a break? Kid, I'm tired of seeing your username all over my screen. I don't understand your obsession with sims voice is, but it does not work for a game like this

Bea Bunni

Excellent video as always! The new mode looks great!

thefinaldegree

I'd rather no voice than that imo

The characters in Yandere Simulator are speaking Japanese, but their words are translated into English for us westerners. Likewise, they are using Yen as a currency, but the prices are translated into dollars for us westerners.

YandereDev

BTW if the random fake voice is actually some random fake Japanese it will add to the atmosphere of the game. Most of the players can't understand real Japanese anyway in order to distinguish it from some random fake Japanese. So maybe it would work very well as a replacement for some random fake English or gibberish that might sound silly, because it's OBVIOUSLY fake to most player that understand English. You could just record a few fake Japanese sentences for each character and then play them at random. They just need to SOUND as if they are Japanese and not necessarily BE Japanese.

So the characters don't get any voice, huh? Well, couldn't you at least let them say something like "Yada-Yada-Yada" or some other gibberish in different voices while the dialogue text rolls in a similar way like the skull talks in this video? https://youtu.be/Zd5S5rlKf_M?t=83 Of course it doesn't have to be exactly the same. You get the idea.

anonymous_d9ede5b4

Also there is the possibility to beat up a whole gang. Isn't this something you wanted to avoid in order to create a socially manipulative protagonist that is cute on the out side and evil in the inside INSTEAD of some physically strong badass that can just bet everyone up?

anonymous_d9ede5b4

BTW why is the in game currency US dollars? Isn't it supposed to be Yen instead?
