Preview of Upcoming Content - Kizana's Befriend/Betray Stealth Mission Environment

The environment for Amai's "Befriend/Betray Stealth Mission" involved three fully-modeled buildings - a bakery, an office building, and a building that was under construction.

The environment for Kizana's stealth mission will involve two buildings - the main building that you're infiltrating (which I have already shown off in a previous video), and a secondary adjacent building that can offer you an additional way to access the main building.

There were three ways to enter the bakery in Amai's stealth mission, and there will be four ways to enter the main building of Kizana's stealth mission; this adjacent building facilitates one of those methods.

The main building has been finished for a while (since May) but the adjacent building wasn't finished until today. I'm very happy with how it turned out; this modeler always does such a great job! I've included a video of it above!

(In the video, when the protagonist reaches the top of the building, you'll notice that the surrounding area outside of the building is the Amai stealth mission environment. This is not final; when you actually play Kizana's mission, the surrounding area will look much different.)

I do have one or two small complaints about this environment. For example, the rooms feel a bit cramped because of those cubicles being so close together, and because of those barriers above the desks. When putting Kizana's stealth mission together, I might make the decision to space out the cubicles an bit more, and also remove those barriers above the desks so that the player can see the whole room a lot more easily. (This will lead to "crouch behind cover" stealth gameplay as the player avoids NPCs in this building!)

Now that this building is finished - and all of the characters who will appear in the stealth mission have been modeled - I officially have all of the assets necessary to begin working on Kizana's Befriend/Betray stealth mission! Hooraaaaay!

(Please remember that I won't officially begin work on the stealth mission until after I'm finished bringing Amai's week to Osana's standard of quality. However, it's still great to have all of the necessary assets!)

Recently, I heard man describe a difficult period in his past using a metaphor: "I had the recipe, but none of the ingredients." It struck me as a very poignant metaphor. Well, I can happily say that I now have both the recipe AND all of the ingredients for Kizana's mission!

Oh, one last thing - the modeler who created this environment is someone who receives payment for his work. Once again, he was paid using your Patreon donations. Thank you for your support - it enables the game to keep getting new additions like this!

Thank you for supporting the development of Yandere Simulator!

Hm...you might have a fair point. I'll consider it, although it might be a bit low on the priority list.

YandereDev

Love the vibe of everything, but there seems to be too much red. Maybe change the red carpet to brown floorboards or dark granite tiles??

4LLST4R._brianna

Nope, it's just a fallen water cooler, it seems.

YandereDev

Ehh it’s awesome. Even the adjacent building looks like a shady business 😂👍 Also, is that a dead body at 0:40 ? Idk if it’s me or if you plan to replace it with sth else. But what a black company ! Keeps you working when a colleague has tripped to death. I almost wish you wouldn’t change the prop haha it’s so horrible I like it

Skuld

I understand the concept, but I think it would be weird to have a training dummy in a school hallway. Also, I think it would be weird to stretch in a school hallway for an extended period of time. Sketching in a sketchbook - Yes, artists can do this for 30~60 minutes. Practicing with an instrument - Yes, musicians can do this for 30-60 minutes. Playing a mobile game - Yes, gamers can do this for 30~60 minutes. Stretching? Eh... I also don't want to include any large furniture / props that obstruct pathways, like food stands. That would be complicated and could lead to pathfinding problems.

YandereDev

Yeah, good point. It's good to make people aware of any official accounts so that they don't get tricked by scam accounts. If I ever do decide to make official social media accounts on any popular social media platforms, I'll probably make a post about it on my blog / this Patreon.

YandereDev

Oh, well yeah, I didn't mean to force you or anything, but to have a safe page on social media accounts instead of these scam accounts would be a huge relief, although you don't have to post anything, but just being there so we can easily inform you if there was any scam accounts, but ig you don't have time to all of that so....but I hope to be the first one to know if you decide to have any social media accounts (^o^)!!

Han

You make a fair and valid point. I'll definitely *consider* it, but right now I feel like there is only room in my life for game development, and no room for posting on social media.

YandereDev

Idk if I have good idea or not but maybe for the Martial Artists they can practice with some training dummy or they can stretch before coming to their clubroom. Idk if its necessary if the cooking club student are in one spot since they walk around the school. But if they must be in one place maybe some stand to sell some food like amai's week but smaller, it would decorate the corridor but it would require assets.

Shiojurn

It looks great so far! Can't wait for Kizana, and the finishing of Amai's week! ^_^

swirled__

Well, I think you're right, especially some people who don't really know you, they will say you're a lazy developer, posting on social media instead of developing and improving the game, but I think you should at least have some social media accounts, not posting but just having them, because a lot of people pretend to be you and ruin your reputation, so why don't you think about it?

Han

I get what you're saying. But, I guess I want to make Yandere Sim a bit more "presentable" before I start trying to spread the word more. Voice acting in Amai's week, visuals for 1980s Mode cutscenes, etc. Without those kinds of things in the game, I just feel kind of embarrassed about it, and unwilling to try to get more eyes on the game.

YandereDev

It's not just about "driving traffic to your content" it will make connecting with fans of the game 20x easier, and for me, I always believe in the principle "a great game starts with great fans" You have a huge fan base, but I think if you were more active on social media, you would gain more people, and fans would know exactly what Yanderedev does and what he's working on. Anyway, I initially asked this question because there was a stranger on Instagram pretending to be you and asking weird, creepy requests 🙏🏻

Han

I don't use any of those platforms. I guess most people would probably recommend having a presence on as many social media platforms as possible in order to "drive traffic to your content!" or whatever, but it has just never been a priority for me.

YandereDev

Hey, how are you today? I was wondering, do you any social media accounts (^o^)? (Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat)

Han

Yes, definitely. I do want to sprinkle students throughout the school hallways to serve as "living security cameras" so that it's never too easy for the player to eliminate a rival without witnesses, but I would like for characters to be doing things much more creative than sitting in a chair and reading a book. For some of them, it's easy to decide what they should be doing... Artists: Sketching in a sketchbook Musicians: Practicing with an instrument Gamers: Playing a mobile game For others... Cooks: ????? Occultists: ????? Martial Artists: ????? You can't cook in the middle of a hallway. You can't practice your kicks when people are walking by. And I'm not sure what kind of animation would be "investigating the area for the presence of ghosts". For most students, it's really difficult to decide what they would be doing in a given spot.

YandereDev

This looks great! I’m new to your patreon, and I was wondering if you are planning on changing the “sit and read” for some students’ routines? Especially during amais week.

Logan Lowry

I understand what you’re saying, and I respect that. I’m very excited and I’m looking forward to whats coming to improve Amai’s week!

Carlito

A lot of people are very strongly opposed to the use of AI to create assets for a commercial video game, and consider it to be very unethical. I think that using AI to add voice acting to the game would only result in more controversy, and would potentially cause a large number of people to boycott the game outright.

YandereDev

By the way if you couldn’t really understand because I didn’t mention it because I was replying to you I’m talking about you hopefully adding ai voice acting for Amai atleast as a placeholder for now

Carlito

Have you ever thought of using ai yandere dev? Me personally I think it’s a really good idea for a placeholder for now! For me when I enter Amai’s week it just feels kind of dead in a way just silence and music. I saw in a blog post you said you’re not really sure if we’re gonna like it, but I think it’s a really great idea!

Carlito

It definitely won't be possible to simply walk through the front door without a problem.

YandereDev

1. I have not been focusing on Kizana. I've been focusing on improving Amai. 2. After Amai has voice acting. I am not ready to make any announcements about the frequency of future videos.

YandereDev

Maybe you can add a feature where you need a too find a lockpick in a trashcan or something too open the door!

V-GamerPRO

This looks great Dev! Can't wait for when it's finally out for everyone! I also have 2 questions for you. 1. How long has Kizana taken for you to make so far? I know game development takes a long time and Kizana probably has more events. So how long has she taken so far? 2. Do you plan on uploading to your main YandereDev Youtube channel at some point in the near future? And would you return to making Progress Reports every few months?

BlackMoon!

I don't want to add unreleased rivals' hair models into the game. I don't want people to create "Look at me, I put 10 rivals into the game before YandereDev!" Custom Mode games.

YandereDev

Hey YanDev can you add other rival's hair into game, and add ability to change color of fonts (in custom mode)

Rysiu

it looks cool that each mission is more difficult because at least some differences can be seen

NIE MAM POMYSŁU NA NAZWE

The plan is for each mission to be more difficult than the previous one. So, rather than "These missions are easy, these missions are hard" it's more like a smooth gradient from easy to hard, with Osana's being easier and Megami's being hardest.

YandereDev

Hey just wondering are you planning to make this mission difficult or rather easy?

NIE MAM POMYSŁU NA NAZWE

Amai's walk and idle might get adjusted in the near future. When they get finalized, they'll be added to Custom Mode.

YandereDev

Hi Yandere Dev, could you add Amai's new idle and walking animations into custom mode? Also, would it be possible to add Amai, Sakyu and Uekiya's new eye types into custom mode as well?

Momoloa92

Oh, I hope you consider this, I would love it if you had your own social media accounts. I find you very interesting person and would love to get to know your different sides :3

Han

Not sure. I honestly don't spend very much time thinking about it. I guess it's something I'll start to consider once I'm closer to the end of the project. Right now, that day just feels too far away to start thinking about.

YandereDev

You're really doing great job out there! But I wanna ask you a question away from development. Do you think one day after you finish developing Yandere Simulator, that you will open accounts on social media - especially YouTube - that will be only about Alex and his interests? I'm sure a lot of people are interested in you and want to see you playing different video games and updating different things that involve just you, apart from Yandere Simulator :3

Han

I can't wait to see what it looks like When it will be released!

Jenpol

Oohhh😲 i cant wait

WWE Jay Gaming

This time around, you don't have to collect an item. Actually, there will be multiple ways to complete the mission. You have to either destroy something, or convince someone to stop doing something that they are doing.

YandereDev

Question, when we play the mission would we still have to just collect one item Or this time will it be 2 or 3 times make it slightly harder. Cause I would like that. Lol Megami’s mission would be 10 times as more hard if we were to collect 10 things

WWE Jay Gaming

Awesome! You're making great progress.
