If your players haven't done something so ridiculous they should end up in prison, then you haven't been DMing long enough!
We've all been there or soon will be. Your players go full Murderhobo, they mess with the wrong guard, have a B&E gone wrong or hell they get framed for murder, whatever the reason it's about time they get thrown in Prison. This can of course happen at the most inopportune times though; you really hadn't planned for a full-on prison break and now you're caught with your pants down. Well, now you'll no longer have to worry because you can pull this out and give them a prison break that's sure to leave lasting Psychological Trauma!
Prison Break Insanity is a level 5 One-Shot/Module created by MonkeyDM the brilliant mind behind Steinhardt's Guide to the Eldritch Hunt!
Your players will find themselves in The Clockwork Conservatory, a gigantic prison-laboratory hybrid, which expands high into the sky, with 9 levels of ever-changing hallways designed to shift their layout every few hours. To the general public, this location is but a prison. But to those more knowledgeable, they know it to also be the place where experiments of an extremely deadly nature take place, sometimes on the very prisoners who find themselves locked up. The wardens? Humanoids who have been deprived of their humanity and turned into Jailors, lawful keepers of the Conservatory's knowledge.
Regardless of why your players are imprisoned, be it murder, theft, or being framed, one thing is sure, they've been sent to this hell hole rightfully or not and they're scheduled to be executed next week. They'll have to act fast if they wish to see another day!
Average Session Length: 3-4hrs +/- 1hr if all encounters are had

Personal Review:
Playing through this I learned quite a bit, I would definitely recommend using this more as a drag-and-drop module if your players are arrested in game instead of a One-Shot. The reason being is that this module leans heavily on combat, which of course can be great for beer and pretzels groups along with people who simply love combat. Personally, I would have liked a bit more roleplay. I plan to find another Prison Break One-Shot so that we have a bit of variety in this aspect. With that being said my players did enjoy themselves, having the opportunity to toss enemies off the stairs to their death was a highlight. I will say for 4 level 5 players it can be particularly deadly, so be prepared to adjust on the fly. Avoid the multi-attack for the Jailors and stick with the 1 attack and 1 imprison ability. For the start of the session be prepared for your players to try a variety of things to get out and be willing to go with them. The One-Shot as written is a bit linear, but there's quite a bit of creativity that you can throw in there, hell my players used rat bones to fashion a lockpick!
As always, If you see something you think I can improve, add, change, etc. please let me know!
Cheers,
Advent
