Advent's Language Exchange

Welcome to Advent's Language Exchange, an opportunity to make D&D accessible to all!

I’ve had quite a few people reach out to me asking if my notes are available in different languages and if AAA offers translations. The entire purpose of this Patron is to make things as easy as possible when it comes to DM prep. Offering several languages would open the door to many new players. Unfortunately, I don’t know every language.

That’s where Advent’s Language Exchange comes in. If you’re a bilingual DM, you can have the opportunity to earn prep for free. If you are feeling more ambitious you can help create a localized version of Advent's Amazing Advice where you can earn a percentage of the profits!

There are two ways to help out:

1) Simply Translate a One-Shot and you'll receive the prep for another One-Shot!

2) If translation and D&D are passions of yours, work directly with me to create a localized version of Advent's Amazing Advice!

Below you can find the prep for the first 3 One-Shots I'd like to translate!

Whichever you decide, you can reach out to me via private message or in the comments below! I look forward to seeing where in the world Advent's Amazing Advice is taken!!!

P.S. For a full list of all my prep check out the Index/FAQ

Cheers,
Advent

Hey, I speak english and I'm fluent (native) in portuguese. I'm also a DM and I do my sessions in english or portuguese. I already ran some of your one shots and are amazing. If you need translations to portuguese, it would be my pleasure to help.

Rui Coutinho

Thank you so much! I would love it if you could translate some prep to German! The most important thing is keeping the formatting as close to the original! I just sent you an email so that you can contact me, ask questions, send prep, etc.!

Advent's Amazing Advice

Hey Advent! Been viewing your work for nearly a year now and just got around to it again as I am prepping to DM for my girlfriends family, who are mostly new players and I remembered you had some low level one-shots on here. Just wanted to say I really appreciate all the work you put in, and I would be glad to help out with translating to German if that is still required on your end. I am a native speaker and have been running DOIP and follow up adventures in german over the last 1.5 years (anything before was in english so would not be helpful, but I've ran, LMoP, a most potent brew, a variation on sheep chase as well as my own campaign for about 3 years, so I guess that would help).

Yenix

Awesome, I'll see what I can do. I'm currently running Dragon of Icepire Peak so I'll start with this one.

Thelmak

That would be Amazing! French is one of the main languages I'm hoping to translate my prep to! The most important thing is to keep the formatting consistent and translating the supporting documents as well! Feel free to translate one of the 3 I have here or any of the prep you have access to as an Adventurer! If that one looks good, we can move on to others and you can pick which you'd like to do next even from the vault! You can send the prep via Discord, or if you private message me, I'll send you an email you can use! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

Advent

Hey there I'm native French speaking and comfortable translating. Let me know if I can be of help.

Thelmak

It's definitely growing. At the moment, everyone is having to use English language encounters though, or create their own Welsh language content.

Meirion Morgan

That would certainly be interesting! I'd be more than happy to have a few sessions translated into Welsh then and see if people find it useful! I'll send you an email!

Advent

Given the history and rich folklore of the country, there are a number of groups popping up all over the place. So far I've only played in English out of necessity.

Meirion Morgan

No haven't had Welsh yet! How's the D&D community over there?

Advent

Has anyone offered to translate into Welsh yet? If not, I'm happy to help out.

Meirion Morgan

Thanks so much for reaching out! I'll send you over an email and we can talk about about it more!

Advent

Hi there Advent, although I am a very sporadic DM, I did have a lot of fun with my translation of We Be Goblins (I thought that one was yours too, wasn't it?). I also converted it from Pathfinder to DnD5e in a way that worked pretty well for us. Not sure if I used your version or the original, but I wouldn't mind some extra translation work to sync with your version. I am not very familiar with how Patreon works, but It would be lovely to share via your platform.

Moon S

Thank you for your kind words, that would be amazing! It's great you're building such a big community! I'll definitely reach out and hope to work together!

Advent

Danish, now that would be interesting! How is the D&D community over there?

Advent

I would definitely like to help you out translating your one-shot DM notes into Persian. We are building a community of Persian D&D players and so far we have two thousands of players gathered around countrywide. I'm going to translate your A Most Potent Brew DM notes into Persian for the upcoming events at our local most popular pub. I can share it with you so you can post it here. Contact me on Discord or E-mail. By the way, you're awesome!

Illusory Dragon

Great, thank you. Looking forward to it.

fabuFab

That's certainly a possibility! Once I get to organizing the next language I'll be sure to reach out!

Advent

And would you benefit from more manpower for the german translation or is it covered already? Cause I would also like to help if needed. :)

fabuFab

I'm still working on getting the Spanish one fully set up, so it's been a bit slower, but I'll soon be working on the next language which will either be French or German!

Advent

Hey, is there place for one more? I'm also interested in translating to German. How far did you already get?

fabuFab

Hey, let me know if you want the Dragon of Icespire Peak notes translated to danish. I am starting the campaign soon and just found your prep, it's amazing and I'd love to use it :)

Milla Gonzalez

That would be awesome, the more languages the better! I'll reach out to you on discord, once I get some of the other languages set up!

Advent

I'm unsure if it would be wanted or what the demand is, but I already translated some of your one-shots into Slovak/Czech as I DM both in Slovak and English. I can continue doing that and share results :)

Aqua

This is exciting, having multiple people to review each other's work would be really helpful! My notes differ a bit from the official materials as well; so that isn't too big of a deal, I'll also keep an eye out for the German source material and see if there are any differences along those lines!

Advent

Perfect! I have someone else interested in Spanish translations as well, so having multiple people review each other's work would be great! I'll reach out to you soon!

Advent

I speak german as well but am quiet new to D&D. The first question that popped to my mind is that WOTC translated Locations as well, but since I prepped with the original material on dndbeyond and your advice I left them as they where. The translation-part would be a challenge I am willing to take, but I lack experience in the german source material so my translations of names couldn't be the same.

Maximilian Kirsch

This sounds like fun! I've been DMing both in spanish and english so I can totally help with the spanish translations!

Jorge Campos

For now, let's start with A Most Potent Brew; if there's demand for it we can talk about a Romanian AAA!!!

Advent

That would be Amazing, German is a surprisingly popular language for D&D! I'll reach out to you in the next few days and we can talk about what you've already prepped and go from there!

Advent

I'm up for doing one-shots and bigger works so if you're looking for someone to help with making a Romanian version of AAA let me know! Otherwise, I'll just get cracking with A Most Potent Brew for now!

Mshary

The more languages the better!

Advent

Great idea! I speak german and would love to work with you. In the past I have translated most of the prep for one of my groups anyway, so I’ve already got the experience and feedback :)

Jannik Wortmann

Not sure what the demand for it would be but I could translate to Romanian.

Mshary

Very interesting and good to know; well it can be worth a look to see exactly how different!

Advent

I'd be happy to! Though if Orkaïs is from France, their French is likely different. I'm a Canadian. 🍁

Ellen

Thank you! Not a problem either, I'll need native speakers to review the translated notes as well to make sure they're up to my standards! I have someone interested in translating some of my notes into French already so perhaps you can review it after their done!

Advent

Oh wow, what a great idea! I speak French, though, I'm not so sure about my translation abilities.

Ellen
