October 2024 Wrap Up

We've just finished up one of my favorite months of the year! I absolutely love Halloween and just had to prep something on theme: The Liching Hour by B.J. Keeton! For those of you who have already run it, I'd love to hear how it went!

There are quite a few important updates in this Monthly Wrap-Up, so let's get into it!

Patreon Changes

Patreon wants to offer subscriptions on the iOS (Apple's) platform. To do this, they are forcing all Patreons to switch to 'anniversary' billing. This won't be an issue since I've had Advent's Amazing Advice on anniversary billing for quite some time (anniversary billing means being charged the same day every month for memberships instead of on the first of the month). The bigger issue is what Apple is doing.

Apple's Cut: In order for Patreon's mobile app to remain on iOS, Apple is taking a 30% cut of any sale made on its store. This is in addition to the Patreon fee and Stripe fee. If you're a current member, this won't affect you at all; however, for new and returning members, If you have an iPhone, please manage your patronage using Patreon on your web browser rather than the iOS store app. Otherwise, apple will charge you 30% more with all of that going directly to them.

For all Patrons, both current and future, if you plan on purchasing anything from the Shop, please also use the web browser in order to avoid the 30% extra fee.

Notes for the Visually Impaired

If you've seen the poll that recently went up, then you know I've been considering updating my notes to help the Visually Impaired! It seems quite a few of you also enjoy the new version, whether or not you're Visually Impaired. I've also heard a few people mention how they print out my notes, and having only the new version would make things difficult for them.

I've decided that going forward, I'm going to do my best to release both my regular version and a V.I. Version! Early next year, I'll also spend some time going back through my old prep and updating them so that they also have a V.I. Version! I hope this change helps make it easier for everyone to have Amazing and Accessible sessions!!!

Dragon of Icespire Peak

Axeholm, The Lower Floors, was released last month, and this month, you can expect it to be completed in its entirety.

Yearly Memberships

If you'd like to see this Patreon grow, save money, and unlock all my content, this is for you! This is also the best way to get access to all my notes for Curse of Strahd when it's fully released along with all the other great content I'll release throughout the year!

Now onto releases for last month!

Dragon of Icespire Peak (Part 4a Axeholm Lower Halls) - Axeholm is a dwarven fortress carved into the base of a mountain. It was abandoned and sealed up long ago after being haunted by a banshee. Ghouls and other creatures now prowl Axeholm, while the banshee continues to haunt the fortress's upper halls. It'll be up to your players to clear this fortress and make it a safe haven for the town of Phandalin; should the dragon threat become too hard to bear!

The Lower Halls will have your players face an onslaught of Ghouls if they try to go through the front gates as well as the ghoulified dwarf castellan who remained behind trying to protect those that fled!

Release Post

The Liching Hour - Fizzbang Frazzlepop, an eccentric goblin wizard, has dedicated his life to achieving the ultimate form of undeath: becoming a lich. However, his numerous "Get Lich Quick" schemes have all ended in spectacular failure—until now.

On Liar’s Night, a time when deceit reigns and the veil between worlds thins, Fizzbang plans to summon the archlich Vecna. In a race against time, your players must decide if they want to help or hinder Fizzbang's attempt before the clock strikes midnight aka. The Liching Hour!

Release Post

I hope everyone has a fantastic start to the month! We've got even more incoming for November!!!

Cheers,
Advent
