Hello everyone, and welcome to this month’s development diary.
I haven’t got a huge lot to say about what we are currently working on at the moment, as I addressed that last month, and some of you have no doubt seen the progress we have been making in the last build (and there’s another one coming up soon). Sommy is continuing to work on the illustrations needed for intro, while Jr X. is implementing the blacksmith changes, continuing to crush bugs, and improving visuals and performance.
What I thought I would talk about today then, is our next goal - the final public demo. This will be the only demo available to the public going forward, and will comprise of the intro to the first half of the Wyldwoods, up to the area’s mid-boss. Our goal is to get this finished by the end of the year, so let’s get into breaking down what is necessary for us to get there.
The Introduction
One of our major tasks, as we have talked about at the moment, is adding the game’s introduction. This is the story that will introduce the player to the world of Jessika’s Curse, as well as unite the party for the first time, and send them on their way to their lusty adventures.
We’ll be keeping quiet about the story for now, but I can tell you how it will be delivered. The action parts of the story are being drawn in comic format by Sommy (as seen above) and will then be animated using Panoply, to create motion comics. The more tame conversations will be done using a more traditional visual novel style format.
Content
Now that the game is stable, and nearly all the bugs have been ironed out, we’ll be adding more for players to do in game. This includes more variety for the Wyldwoods in general, with new curios, and random events, as well as a few new quests available in town. We’ll also be adding a new area, the elf village, with its own NPCs, and the game’s first boss fight.
In addition to this, we will also be implementing the new relationship system, in which the players will get to know the NPCs of the game better through random events as they build up their relationship with them through gifts. This will be an ongoing process throughout development, but we are aiming to add enough conversations for each NPC to make the demo interesting.
Assets
Finally, we need quite a few assets, which Sommy will be working hard on over the next few months, with help from his assistant once we reach $3k. As mentioned in the last section, we will be adding the village area, so we will need assets for that, including animating the two-headed orc mid-boss above.
In addition, we will also need at least four new sex scenes (one for each of the girls) for the boss, and if we have time, we’ll also be working on the animations for the church as well.
That’s all for today. As you can see, we have quite a bit of work to do, but we will continue to chip away at it, and backers will be seeing the fruits of that labour in our upcoming version releases. Other than that, I will be updated the Patreon design, along with a new list of goals, in the very near future, so keep an eye out for that.
