Friday Rambles and Game Dev Update 2024-11-29

It's the Friday Rambles.

Real Life Stuff:

Ate turkey with family. Good times. Didn't work on Thursday and most of today. And I'll be busy with more turkey this weekend, with friends. It's a real Turkey Overload, baby!

Game Dev Stuff:

Steam Autumn Sale started this week, and I had completely forgotten about it until I saw other people posting about Steam Autumn Sale. I had already input my discount months ago, so whatever, but I "drew" a "new" Sale Pic.

Yeah, it might be time to retire this pic.

This week, despite the Thanksgiving holiday, has been very productive. I drew a map. I drew NPC sprites. I designed a rudimentary puzzle. You can probably guess what part I worked on this week.

I wrote a huge amount of words. Thousands of them in various places. And in the process found a good place to re-add a cameo I had taken out after I changed the entire premise of the bonus chapter. Even back before Whiskey's Bar. Remember that? Anyway, it's relatively hidden but in a natural location, so we're good to go there. We've come full circle, ladies and gentlemen.

A screenshot of the cameo. Except I only had a pic I took with my phone for some reason. I blurred it to make it more mysterious, but it was too obvious what it was. So I added a pixel filter. But it was still obvious. So I desaturated it. Anyway. If you can still tell, that's a testament to the character design, I guess.

My goal was to finish this week, but alas, the holiday kept me busy for a lot of it. I am very close, though. Just a bunch of stubs I need to fill out, no real major story things to do anymore. I think with a full week of work next week, it'll definitely be ready for sending to translators. Assuming packing all these Black Friday orders doesn't take up all that time. Oops.

Really looking forward to being done so I can work on this huge todo list of coding and art stuff I have to do for the non-script remaining parts of the game. I'll probably be far less rushed with that, though. Which might even give me time to draw for fun or make new sticker designs or something. Or even... play some games... in my spare time...

Maybe I'll even eat a burger.

Next week I'll be finishing up the script for good. Really! My plan is to say "hey, everyone. I sent off the script to translators." and then everyone will clap.
