Expanding the campaign syncing beta

Hi everyone,

It's been a long while, and work on the campaign syncing has continued. I had to take a small detour to add support for the Edge of the Earth campaign, which is now out the door and seems to have gone fairly smoothly (there are probably still a few minor mistakes, but I'm pretty happy with the turn around considering this was the largest campaign content drop in the history of the game).

As far as the campaign syncing goes, I've had about 20 people using the feature for these last two months, and I believe it is ready to expand to a wider audience.  I might still be making a few UI adjustments and there are a couple login related issues I'm trying to hunt down still, but I think its ready for more people to try it out.  I've been using it myself for the last 4 months, not without issues, but at this point the list is 'bug-free' -- which means I need more people to help find more bugs!

With that in mind, here's how you can join the beta:

1. First make a backup of your campaign data off the Settings page, and save the file somewhere safe.

2. Visit Settings > Diagnostics and look for a new header there called 'Beta testing'  There is an option to enter in a code to gain access to the beta -- the code is 0451.

3. Sign into an arkhamcards.com account (separate from your arkhamdb account), and you should now be able to upload campaigns and sync them between devices / share them with friends (feel free to give immediate friends the code as well, just caution them that its in 'beta' still and to backup data/not be surprised if some oddness appears). The campaign bag also sync between devices, if you want to play with multiple devices at once (or from different locations).

4. If you spot anything funny at all, please email me at arkhamcards@gmail.com with the details -- the more info the better.  Suggestions for ways to improve the UI are also always welcome.

What's next on deck -- welI getting this shipped to everyone of course! But I'm also starting to work on supporting the new Tarot deck introduced with Return to Circle Undone. And I'm starting to explore how possible it would be to include some of the art from the campaign guides in the app, to just help up the immersion a bit.

Comments

First you need everyone to set an account name in the app then you can add them as a friend. Once you've added them as a friend you'll be able to invite them to the campaign. At that point they'll be able to upload their own deck.

Thanks for all the effort you put into this, Daniel. I got a question in regard to the Campaign Syncing feature and the ability for others players to maintain/upgrade their investigator's deck. If I'm not mistaken, the first thing to do is to “upload the campaign” to the server to enable the option “Edit players” in the campaign. After that, I'm not sure whether we have to assign a deck to one of those players. How can I assign a given investigator deck to one of those players so he can see/edit it? Is there a need to do this? Right now, all the decks in the campaign are automatically assigned to me, the player “hosting” the campaign. Thanks in advance.

Enhorabuena por la app

Thank you for building! I just downloaded the app and so far it’s super smooth. Very impressed! Can’t wait to see what’s in the future 😊
